c1: Hong Feng City

Da Qian Dynasty, Hong Feng City.

The sun was already shining bright in the morning.

Outside the huge gates of the bustling city, there were men and women, with horse carriages and carts filled with goods waiting to get in.

Lin Xuan Qi was one of them.

Unlike them, he didn’t have much on him.

He only had a bundle with his clothes, some documents and copper coins inside it.

Lin Xuan Qi wiped his forehead, looked up and marveled at the tall walls of the city that were carved with scriptures on them.

It was nothing like what he had seen before.

Lin Xuan Qi wasn’t from Da Qian Dynasty.

He was a university student from Earth, and just when he graduated and thought his life was about to start, he transmigrated to Da Qian Dynasty.

The young man with the same name he transmigrated to was an orphan. Barely able to survive on his own.

Which was why he was here in Hong Feng City.

He summoned his Clan Prosperity System’s information panel as he waited, and words appeared in his mind.

[Clan Prosperity System at your service.]

[Current Tasks:]

[1. Inherit and take over the system-allocated mansion.]

[Reward: 10 taels of silver.]

[2. Start recruiting personnel to tend to the clan.]

[Reward: 5 kg of rice daily per person recruited.]

He had awakened with the Clan Prosperity System, and he was now in Hong Feng City to inherit the mansion allocated to him by it.

If he was able to complete the tasks, the rewards would change his life for the better.

He certainly wouldn’t mind if he could build up his Lin Clan, as what the system’s name suggests.

Lin Xuan Qi was alone in this world, and having a clan would ground him and let him have a legacy of his own.

"Next!" The soldier at the checkpoint of the gate shouted at him, disrupting his thoughts.

Lin Xuan Qi quickly went over, and the soldier asked him a few questions.

"Why are you here? Where are your documents?" The soldier asked in a menacing voice.

Boom!

The soldier was disrupted by a loud boom and everyone stopped what they were doing and looked up.

Lin Xuan Qi saw an old man engulfed in an amber glow flying across the sky.

His eyes followed the old man closely with envy.

If only I could do that, he thought.

Lin Xuan Qi knew that Da Qian was a world with cultivators and even evil beasts, but it was still stunning to witness it in person.

"Stop looking. The immortals are doing their duty to protect the city," the soldier shouted.

He stretched out his hand and waited for Lin Xuan Qi.

"I’m here to move into my property."

Lin Xuan Qi took out the documents for the ownership of the mansion from the system and handed them over to the soldier.

The soldier reread the documents three times just to be sure as Lin Xuan Qi wasn’t dressed like a young master.

After ensuring the documents were valid, the soldier let Lin Xuan Qi through the gates.

Inside the gates of the city, it was even more vibrant and bustling.

"Noodles! Tasty noodles!"

"Hairpin, necklace for the ladies!"

"Pots and bowls."

Merchants shouted behind their makeshift stalls lined on the side of the streets.

Men and women streamed through the streets, occasionally giving way to horse carriages as the sound of the horses galloping came nearer.

The aroma from food of the street vendors reminded Lin Xuan Qi of his hunger.

He walked over to a plump man who was lifting the cover off the bamboo steamer.

"Morning, feel free to have a look. These freshly made meat buns are cheap and delicious for one copper coin each," the plump man said to Lin Xuan Qi.

"Give me two meat buns," Lin Xuan Qi said.

He dug into his bundle that he carried and took out two copper coins.

The plump man bowed and took his money.
