The Saint burst out laughing despite the immense pressure threatening to kill him. Numerous treasures on his body began rumbling as though they would activate any moment.
Venerable Knight Lussandra noticed something amiss. She turned to look at City Lord Kain, who shook his head as though he was looking at a pitiful woman.
"The Saint didn't do much. He just went to the Hayden Family, and they were glad to gift her to him as a maid, and now he brought her here. Tell me, O'Venerable Knight. Do you want to interfere in the internal affairs of a family and forcefully bring away the Hayden Family's Young Mistress?"
"…"
Venerable Knight Lussandra's expression remained cold, but her eyes wavered.
She kept pointing the arrow at them, but suddenly, a figure walked in front of her and stood before her, her head bowed.
"Venerable Knight Lussandra, I want to thank you for all the help that you have given me. I won't ever forget this gratitude. I will remember it forever. However, my family has decided I'm better used by the Saint, so please don't interfere anymore."
She bowed deeply as she knelt and practically fell on Venerable Knight Lussandra's foot, causing her to reel back.
Her expression quivered as her gaze changed numerous times.
When she raised her head, she glared at the Saint and City Lord Kain, the glint in her eyes revealing a never-before-seen hatred.
"Good, very good. You two just wait."
Venerable Knight Lussandra dispelled her bow and turned around to leave.
However, a furious voice suddenly echoed.
"Coward!" City Lord Davis roared, "You can't even save a woman who needs help so badly! How can you capture and kill the calamity, the Divine Emperor of Death, like this!? That's why you failed to kill that calamity that day! You're a failure! You're a disgrace to the Heaven's Warriors!"
Venerable Knight Lussandra momentarily stopped before her wings unfurled and she flew away.
"Cowardly Warrior! Come back here if you dare. Let's see if you can take her away from the Saint and me! Especially the Saint!"
City Lord Davis roared.
He glared at her with hate. He wasn't disappointed by her actions.
He wanted to harm her. Hence, even if she made the move to save Jillian Hayden, he would've still twisted the actions, words and shamed her.
On the other hand, even the Saint got cold feet at how his new brother kept challenging the Venerable Knight to a battle.
"Brother, that's enough… enough…" He dryly laughed, unable to believe the audacity of his brother and even using him as a backing as well as a shield.
"Hmph!" City Lord Davis harrumphed, "She has the gall to break into the manor twice. I'm afraid she isn't a simple Heaven's Warrior who follows the rules."
The Saint sighed, "These flies are running around me because they want to use me and my people as bait to capture the Divine Emperor of Death. They think I'm not aware, but I'm not stupid. In any case, don't worry, brother. Heh, I doubt the Divine Emperor of Death's even here considering he would prefer to be holed up with his wives and cultivate until he reaches the apex."
"Oh? The Saint seems to know about the Divine Emperor of Death?"
"I have met him a few times back in that Anarchic Divergent's world. He could be considered very protective of his family. Tsk, his wives are… sigh… one can only wish to court such timeless beauties in their dreams. After all, his Heart Intent… he would know what I'm thinking before I'm even forming any thoughts."
"What?" City Lord Davis said smilingly, worms of rage nearly appearing on his forehead.
"Oh, nothing." Saint Riyal Mendez chuckled, "Anyway, I'm very sorry, brother. I can't go meet the First Madam now. I need to go to my entourage before that wench does something strange like bringing a martial court order for my arrest. You should be careful too. I'll see you later."
"Oh, understood. I'll be careful."
"If you can serve him well, the Hayden Family will prosper." The Saint pointed at Jillian Hayden smilingly before leaving with the same devious smile.
City Lord Davis watched him leave before he turned to look at Jillian Hayden.
Her back straightened in fear, but he simply ignored her and went back to the bed, taking out a few scrolls before he began studying what seemed to be a roach movement art…?
Jillian Hayden's shuddered.
He couldn't be planning to crawl all over her on the bed, right?
