Wenjing Garden, outside Building 3.
8:00 PM.
A solid black Jaguar XFL slowly approached from a distance, then came to a smooth stop by the roadside.
"Lin Shen, thank you for dinner. See you at Hongqiao tomorrow at 6 AM!"
After getting out of the passenger seat, Jiang Wan made a point of running over to the driver’s side. She tucked her hair behind her ear, leaned down, and gave Lin Shen a peck on the cheek.
"Go get some rest. You’ve been working hard these past few days."
"You too. Good night."
"Good night~"
After watching the Jaguar XFL drive away, Jiang Wan went upstairs, the corners of her mouth turned up in a slight smile as she hummed a little tune.
When Jiang Wan opened the door, Xu Lu took one look at her happy, cheerful expression and knew exactly what had happened.
"Well, well! Someone’s happy. Did Lin Shen drive you home?"
"Yep."
Jiang Wan changed into her slippers with a grin.
"Oh, by the way, Xu Lu, I have to go out of town tomorrow."
"Where to?"
"Qin Island."
Huh?
Xu Lu froze, and the potato chips she was chewing suddenly lost their flavor.
"With Lin Shen? How come you never mentioned this before? This is so sudden!"
"It was a last-minute decision."
Jiang Wan’s voice drifted from the bedroom, laced with a hint of unconcealable excitement.
"It’s like they say online—time for a spur-of-the-moment trip!"
"That’s amazing!"
Xu Lu walked over to Jiang Wan’s doorway and leaned against the frame, her face full of envy.
Honestly, she really envied her best friend’s life right now.
She had a stable, full-time job as a counselor with good benefits. Outside of class, she not only got to fully experience the youthful atmosphere of university life, but she could also make extra money filming for TikTok.
And to top it all off, her boyfriend, Lin Shen, was an exceptionally outstanding guy for his age.
Looks, body, family background, personality... he had no weaknesses!
"It must be nice."
Xu Lu sighed.
"Lin Shen’s probably already financially independent, right? When will I be able to stop working and just travel everywhere like him?"
...
Jiang Wan, with her high emotional intelligence, chose not to respond. Any attempt at consolation would likely just upset Xu Lu more.
The best solution was to stay silent.
Or change the subject.
"What kind of swimsuit do you think would look good on me at the beach?"
Jiang Wan pulled a light blue, one-piece swimdress from her closet and held it up to her body, which made Xu Lu click her tongue and shake her head.
"Wanwan, are you still in elementary school? You’re going to wear a swimsuit that conservative on a trip with Lin Shen? He’ll just end up checking out other pretty girls."
"You know why."
Jiang Wan feigned innocence with a blink.
"If I wore any other style of swimsuit, everyone would probably be staring at me."
"Damn! Are you trying to show off?"
Xu Lu couldn’t help but curse, her eyes darting to Jiang Wan’s chest. She was filled with a potent mix of envy, jealousy, and bitterness.
’Wanwan was right!’
’If she wore any other style of swimsuit with that spectacular pair, wouldn’t she capture the attention of every single man on the beach?’
"But I think you have a point, Lu."
Jiang Wan asked Xu Lu after a moment of thought.
"I remember you have other kinds of swimsuits, right? Can I borrow one?"
"Of course, no problem. But are you sure you want to wear it?"
A mischievous smile played on Xu Lu’s lips. She immediately turned and went back to her room, rummaged through her closet, and finally pulled out a swimsuit.
