c35: 13: Breaking Through the Enemy Lines Alone (Part 3)

Chapter 35: Chapter 13: Breaking Through the Enemy Lines Alone (Part 3) This was the ability of the Hun Eagle Shooter, already taken by Duncan.

Duncan immediately mounted his horse, closing in on the right flank of the cavalry skirmish on the battlefield. If the right flank were completely overrun, the imperial legion would surely face total collapse.

Since he’s here.

Not killing a few people would be a wasted journey!

Duncan directly nocked an arrow and aimed at a Goth vassal rider. The sharp arrow pierced the air, and the enemy was shot off his horse, then trampled to death by chaotic riders.

One kill!

The battlefield was in complete chaos, with few noticing Duncan’s presence. Even the mixed imperial legion assumed he was an ally.

In this situation, it was perfect for him to fish in troubled waters.

Two kills!

An arrow pierced the air, heavily wounding an Alan vassal rider off his horse, directly speared to death by a Western Goth cavalryman.

Duncan maneuvered using mounted archery, constantly alert to the Hun archers on the large map. He shot an arrow straight ahead, knocking down an Imperial armored cavalryman trying to flee.

Three kills!

This one was half accidental because the opponent’s head happened to line up within the crosshairs, prompting Duncan to instinctively get a headshot.

Who told him to collapse morale and try to escape?

The battlefield was already chaotic enough; no one could know where stray arrows came from.

Duncan’s main targets were still the Hun and Barbarian troops. Occasionally, he’d unintentionally kill a couple of Imperial cavalrymen — those were just accidents.

But his presence undoubtedly shifted the right flank of the Empire’s battle line. More than ten Hun riders chased him on horseback, but Duncan fled directly out of their range without a word.

"The Eagle Shooter has elevated me significantly!"

Duncan’s riding skills were no less than those of the elite Hun riders. He calculated the distance.

— Resting Horse Arrow!

A forty-five-degree angle shot, the arrow hit a Hun rider’s chest impossibly, and shortly after, he fell off his horse and died.

"Eagle Shooter!?" (Hun language)

This term describes elite archers, highly esteemed in the Hun Empire.

Four kills!

Duncan calmly controlled the warhorse with his mind, firing another steady arrow set on the crosshairs, headshotting a Hun elite rider.

Now the Huns were a bit frightened, sending a small squad of Goth vassal riders to chase him.

"Aren’t they just handing me free kills?" Duncan rejoiced.

The East Goth vassal riders were equipped with shield lances, rarely carrying bows, and couldn’t catch up to him in riding skills. In the God’s-eye view, Duncan could not possibly scramble aimlessly through the battlefield; other riders might lose their direction in the charge, but he counted the heads of every enemy around him clearly.

One arrow shot through the warhorse’s head, and the second arrow directly killed the grounded Goth rider.

Five-kill rampage!

The more Duncan killed, the more proficient he became, but eliminating Goth vassal riders with shields took a few extra arrows; occasionally, a grounded rider would be trampled to death by his comrades.

Six kills godlike!

Seven kills intimidate!

Eight kills fear!

Nine kills rout!

This squad of Goth vassal riders transitioned from initial high morale to low morale. When Duncan hit seven kills, they were already intimidated, and as another rider fell, they turned into fear, finally routing completely at nine kills, even with over ten riders, escaping in disarray.

This was terrifying!

Not to mention the Goth vassal army, even the elite Hun riders exhibited the ’fear’ mark.

Ten-kill rout!

Approximately thirty seconds per head.

Duncan completed a stunning ten-kill feat within a few minutes on the battlefield, with the Western Goth riders continuously exclaiming, calling him ’Lord’s warrior’, their morale soared instantly.

Some of the migrating Goths converted to Catholicism, and many Barbarian Race members in Germania were church followers.

"That’s about it!"

Duncan did not rush to crush these Hun and vassal army, realizing his arrow inventory was running low upon checking.

He carried two arrow quivers, unexpectedly used up quickly. (Leather arrow quiver with 12 arrows, convenient to carry, quick to access, not cumbersome at all. Large quiver with 24 arrows, biggest with 36 arrows, affecting maneuverability, usually only foot archers carrying over 60 arrows.)

"Franks!"

"Barbarian Race elite warriors."

Duncan needed to take a few essential heads: one was the elite Frank infantrymen, adept at using the Frank throwing axe, the other was Barbarian Race elite warriors, who possibly wielded special abilities.

He began roaming the battlefield perimeter, avoiding the enemy’s archer units.

Opportunity!
