Chapter 1014: Chapter 34: Demon Lord – Red Funeral Attire (Part 2) A spiritual light emerges.
With a faint feeling of dizziness, everything Duncan perceives has fundamentally changed. His mind touches an immensely vast will, far surpassing the divine spirits with mighty divine power. This must be the legendary Abyssal Will.
The only record of its action is the Abyssal Will annihilating a nameless pantheon and giving birth to a void layer known as the ’Nightmare Abyss.’
The nightmare of this pantheon’s death evolved into a new type of demon—the Lomarrah.
How strong is the Abyssal Will?
It’s not clear for now, but it probably won’t be weaker than the Supreme Holy Light of Heaven Mountain.
Broken Domain.
This town is composed of many crumbling towers, tracing back to the era of Obiris’s chaotic demon rule. On the outskirts of the town are numerous trenches, city walls, spiked barricades, and other simple fortifications. Further out is a vast marketplace and merchants and mercenaries from various planes of the Material Plane.
Demons hire outsiders to help fight wars, rewarding them with souls.
But since the Saint’s Calamity ended not long ago, the Abyssal Blood War is currently in a truce period. Devils fortify their defenses, and demons also rest and recuperate.
A faint sulfuric smell permeates.
Sometimes, the town is wrapped tightly by a blood-red mist like a shroud, with the air filled with the acrid smell of decay and sulfur. Each breath feels like inhaling a demon’s breath into your lungs, making one feel very uncomfortable.
The Red Shroud is the ruler here, and also a Demon Lord.
As a powerful mage, Shadow Devourer-Victor is also very cautious after arriving here. He casts protective spells on himself in advance and then turns to the fully armed Duncan, saying, "My lord."
"Ahead is Broken Domain Town."
"There are gathered quite a few mercenaries from the Abyssal Blood War inside. You’d better be careful."
Duncan nods slowly.
Along the way, many hideous-looking monsters can be seen, mainly demons but also prayer entities from the Bottomless Abyss. They are usually slaves and servants. Demons capture souls from the Material Plane, reincarnate and enslave them, and they mostly serve as currency of the Bottomless Abyss. Only after advancing once can they be used as slaves.
Undead creatures wander the edge of the battlefield. They are assimilated by the laws of the Bottomless Abyss and are becoming prayer entity forms, a sort of foul-smelling Boda Corpse, which may potentially evolve into one in late stages.
The ditch is a swarm of busy slaves.
They are called ’soul spirits,’ possessing pale skin, cruel claws, sharp teeth, sparse hair, and pallid eyes. Often, many maggots are seen crawling and writhing within the bloated flesh of the soul spirits.
Soul spirits that survive for many years sometimes are promoted to low-level types of demons.
Abyssal reincarnation cannot retain much memory. Only the strong can retain certain memories from past lives, and they often advance to demons more easily.
Further away is a group of ’herders.’
Upon entering the Broken Domain Town, a Night Witch wearing a pointed wizard hat and draped in a tattered gray robe casts a malicious glance at the two. They are ’herders’ and also thieves. Behind them is a swarm of hideous insects, each with a twisted human face on its head.
Soul worms!
A specialty of the Bottomless Abyss, they are common throughout the lower planes, being the souls of humans and other intelligent beings. They are currency, food, troops, and the bedrock of the lower planes.
Soul is the hard currency of the entire Bottomless Abyss.
"Entry fee!"
"Two soul crystal stones, or something of equivalent value."
A Froh demon, dressed as a bureaucrat, glances at Duncan before noting with a blood-red quill: "This is a decree from the Red Shroud Lord."
"All demons must obey."
Duncan was long prepared and handed over two gray gems infused with the Soul Capturing Technique.
The Froh demon’s outstretched hand remains unchanged, just casting another glance at Duncan, before putting down a smaller soul crystal stone. Known for deceit, the demon then breaks into a sinister grin, unexpectedly appearing somewhat cordial, offering, "If you encounter any trouble, you can come here to find me."
"As long as it complies with the lady’s decree."
On the first layer of the Bottomless Abyss, the demons of the Ten Thousand Abyss Plain have already become as cunning as devils.
The territory of the Red Shroud has laws and order.
As long as it’s an Enchanting Demon’s territory, it’s much better than the chaotic state of other demon territories.
After Duncan steps into this decaying high tower, a swarm akin to humans appears. They are descendants of humans and demons, commonly found where enchanting demons are active. Due to the enchanting demons’ physiological traits being closest to humans and their high libido, they are most likely to reproduce offspring.
In Broken Domain, they belong to the middle and lower classes, with some powerful individuals able to manage demons because they are more intelligent. The trade market in Broken Domain is managed by them.
Duncan weaves through the crowd.
With the Red Shroud’s decree, demons entering here behave relatively well, but once outside Broken Domain Town, it’s hard to say.
——Dusk Tavern.
Duncan halts his steps in front of the tavern, the entrance guarded by two massive heads that seem to be berserk demon heads. Adjacent are decorative buildings forged from spinal bones, and atop sits a chain demon’s head, a trophy from the Abyssal Blood War.
On the projection page of Dimension Space, units with a three-star mark or higher are ubiquitous throughout Broken Domain Town, and most are faint red hostile targets.
