c1263: 1266: A Casual Rescue (Part 1)

"What’s wrong?" Princess Consort Le asked in confusion.

Lin Xi froze for a second. Looking at Princess Consort Le, she clearly hadn’t heard anything.

Fair enough.

He’d only barely caught it himself; with Princess Consort Le being much weaker than him, it was perfectly normal she didn’t hear it.

It’s just, how could there be someone calling for help in a place this wild?

He and Princess Consort Le had walked a long way to get here.

The path and everything had disappeared long ago.

And in this kind of scenic area, there were still some aggressive wild animals around.

So basically nobody would leave the main trail and come into a place like this.

Let alone do what the two of them did—force their way through and open up a path no one used.

"Sounds like someone’s calling for help over there. Let’s go take a look," he said.

Princess Consort Le nodded and glanced in the direction Lin Xi pointed.

As for why she didn’t hear it but Lin Xi did, she didn’t dwell on it.

After all, in her mind Lin Xi was already a mysterious expert.

The two of them picked their way along, quickly heading in the direction of the sound.

The paths in this kind of forest were actually very hard to walk.

Every now and then there were thorns, vines and so on.

But for people with their level of strength, it was basically like walking on flat ground.

Before long, they found the source of the sound.

And they also saw a giant wild boar weighing around three hundred jin.

The boar’s bristles looked much longer and harder than a domestic pig’s, like steel needles growing all over its body.

Its pig face was vicious, especially the tusks at its mouth.

Just looking at it sent a chill down your spine.

In front of the wild boar stood an old man who looked about sixty or seventy.

His outfit was obviously a hiking style.

Not the backpacker kind, but the pure "climb the mountain for exercise" type.

Fortunately there were a lot of ancient trees here, otherwise he’d probably have been rammed into serious injury by the boar already.

But judging from the bruises and reds all over his face, and his clothes torn to shreds, he clearly wasn’t having an easy time as it was.

"I’ll go save him!" Lin Xi said, and directly leaped forward.

Princess Consort Le stayed put, her gaze instinctively sweeping around.

Seeing no other danger, she relaxed quite a bit.

Or maybe she was worried this was some setup by that mysterious man from the Leqing Sect.

After all, in a place this wild, an old man suddenly shows up.

And it just so happens to be right after they came out of the Secret Realm—isn’t that a bit too coincidental?

But since she didn’t find anything off, she dropped the suspicion.

As for Lin Xi going to save someone, she wasn’t worried at all.

It was just a wild boar.

Even if it was a Boar King, it wouldn’t be Lin Xi’s match.

Honestly, even a basic special forces soldier could handle a Boar King.

Let alone an Innate.

Just Lin Xi’s aura alone could scare it into pissing itself.

Seeing a stranger approach, the boar bared its tusks at Lin Xi, looking like it was about to charge and ram.

The old man’s face lit up when he saw a young man arrive.

But then his expression changed again and he shouted, "Kid, be careful!"

"This wild boar is scary as hell!"

Lin Xi nodded slightly at the old man, then looked again at the boar that was issuing a warning before attacking, and let out a soft, cold snort.

The vicious, murderous wild boar immediately shuddered.

It almost plopped its butt right down on the ground.

When it looked at Lin Xi again, its eyes were like it had just met a natural enemy.

"Still not rolling?" he said.
