c582: 526: Magic Disappearing Act

Three nights later.

The tropical storm finally reached the coast of Mexico, bringing ample rainfall to the entire south-central region, which was undoubtedly a welcome event for water-strapped Mexico.

It has been raining nonstop since last night.

It began as a pitter-patter in the beginning, but by four in the morning, it had turned into a torrential downpour. By this morning, the sun did not shine in the sky as usual, replaced by thick dark clouds.

The entire Mexico City was shrouded in darkness, as if it were evening.

Cassandra received a call from Song Heping in the morning.

"Notify the construction crew to start work, break through everyone's toilets tonight."

"Okay, I'll arrange it right away."

After hanging up, Cassandra held the phone and zoned out for a long time.

He didn't know whether to thank Song Heping or to kill the guy.

Admittedly, after this half a month's interaction, Cassandra admitted that this Chinese guy was tough.

Everything was within his control, and nothing went wrong at all.

But he believed that his boss, Shorty Joaquin, was definitely not on the same page as someone like Song Heping.

The conditions Song Heping demanded were Balrot's smuggling network and the loyalty of the Sinoloa Group.

That was a big joke.

Let alone that Balrot wasn't dead, even if he were, his network and organization should be merged into the Sinoloa Group.

With his boss's way of doing things, he would definitely swallow this piece of fat.

How could they just give it away to a CIA man for nothing?

From what he knew about his boss, he would definitely turn against this Mr. Song after escaping from prison.

Naive Chinese.

Do they think that what a drug lord promises he will certainly do?

Once back in the business, what could he use to threaten his boss?

But before the escape was successful, Cassandra still needed to fully cooperate with Song Heping's operation.

He immediately sent out the orders.

The road construction crew and the underground tunnel crew began to work in the rain.

The escape was scheduled for two in the morning.

In the evening, Song Heping brought his men to the tunnel entrance house to meet with Cassandra.

"Care for a cup of coffee?"

Song Heping set up a stove to boil water for coffee and extended the invitation to Cassandra.

Considering the upcoming all-nighter, Cassandra naturally wouldn't refuse the kind offer.

He settled into a folding chair, took the cup from Song Heping across from him, and waited for Song Heping to pour hot water into the cup containing instant coffee. His gaze, however, kept stealthily glancing at the Chinese man opposite him.

"What's the matter? Cassandra, do you have something to say to me?"

Song Heping took the initiative to ask.

Cassandra was startled for a moment, his gaze dodged, and after hesitating he tentatively asked, "After they all get out, Mr. Song, are you planning on letting my boss and the others leave from here?"

He had noticed that the people around this house right now were all Song Heping's men.

They were fully armed, arriving in bulletproof vehicles, and looked like seasoned veterans at a glance.

Perhaps, Song Heping had a backup plan?

Were there more troops of his lying in ambush nearby?

To be safe, they needed to get out of here.

Cassandra didn't care about the other families, but his boss had already decided to move to the mountains to hide for a while after getting out this time.

Once the escape of the drug lords from the prison was discovered, Mexico City would definitely face a complete blockade by the police, and even the military might be called in; by then, not even a fly could possibly get out.

Therefore, leaving Mexico City for the mountains near Ascensión was the only way to truly gain freedom.

"Of course, they'll leave from here. Don't you have your own vehicles? I'm a man of my word. Later, you'll drive your vehicles to leave, to avoid any suspicion that we've installed trackers in them."

When it came to tracking devices, Cassandra remembered that the reason the bosses got caught in one fell swoop before was that this Chinese man had a tracking device on him when he went straight to the villa.

Now he was candidly saying that to avoid suspicion they should use their own prepared vehicles instead of vehicles provided by them.

This attitude was puzzling.

Was he not smart?

What could he do to make his boss listen to him after he left?

Song Heping appeared very relaxed, smilingly finished his coffee, and casually leaned against the wall, saying to Jiang Feng, "Jiang Feng, keep an eye on their construction, check the progress. I'm not going to be hands-on, just handle this little matter."

After finishing speaking, he closed his eyes halfway, beginning to rest.
