Chapter 53: Chapter 53: Highest in the Room Chapter 53: Highest in the Room
Lynx and Ava are heading to the cafeteria now. The Ice Affinity class ascension trials is over for today. The whole place still smelled like frost and sweat. Students were walking out in groups, talking loudly about the matches. And he has to attend the Lightning affinity class Ascension trials, which is starting by 1pm.
Apparently after his another popular fight that ended up with him destroying his opponent with one punch, all the students and teachers in the school knows he’s fighting in all the Year 2 Classes ascension trials.
Word spread like wildfire. One punch, chest frozen. Kol out cold, and he’s likely to not wake up today. Now every Student wanted to see if he’d do it again.
His phone has been buzzing with followers and message requests. Nonstop. Ding!. Ding!. Ding!. He pulled it out for half a second.
999+ message requests.
500+ tags.
He has over 100k followers now. No posts, just his transcendental face, and his videos circulating online on AETHER Academy News or some regular normal humans from Aether Empire viewing it. Clips of him catching ice blades. Clips of him flicking Ava’s forehead. Clips of that one punch.
The poster usually racks thousands of views, and they always tag his account. He still doesn’t know how the fuck everyone knows his newly created account. He made it 3 days ago and had 0 posts.
He kept his phone on his pocket, it could wait later. The buzzing in his pocket felt annoying. Now his attention is back on Ava, the stunning, white hair, big breast, blue eyes girl. She was walking next to him, hair shining under the lights.
"You and Peter really need to get a dna test or something, to check if you guys are related. Cause I don’t think you are" he was still taking in her beauty. The way her white hair fell over her shoulder. The way her uniform somehow looked better on her than everyone else.
Ava just laughed at his words. It was a light, airy laugh. "I’ve been told this a couple of times, but my parents never did a test for us. And we never asked. It wasn’t necessary." She shrugged, but her cheeks went pink.
Few students stared at Lynx as he passed and walked to the cafeteria door. Groups of Year 1s. Year 2s. While some junior girls just blushed and ran. One girl actually tripped trying to get a photo of him.
He didn’t mind all of that. He was used to eyes on him now. But Ava did. Her shoulders tensed a little.
"You’re the most talked about person on this Academy right now. And you haven’t even attended any class apart from your fire affinity class which we know is not more than twice. How... okay I get it, you’re the most handsome guy in this academy. Probably this universe, and you’re strong too." Her voice was impressed, and exasperated.
Lynx chuckled, deep and lazy. "I don’t need those classes the way you all do. I could even go toe to toe with the strongest kid in this academy and trash his ass" He said it like he was talking about the weather.
"You’re bluffing, you cocky boy" Ava pressed the blue button and the big cafeteria door opened up with a hiss. The smell of food hit them immediately.
"No, I’m not. I don’t know who the strongest is but I could take him dow..." Ava dragged his slightly down to match her height and placed her hands on his lips. His lips were warm and soft.
"Shhh" she then whispered in his ears. Her breath was warm against his skin. "Don’t say that out loud around here. You’re not the only one with fans. The King of this Academy Is a Year 4 Student, leader of the 8 Student Council. He’s really popular and strong" Her voice was barely above a whisper.
Then saw how close they were in public and quickly leaned back, face red, she started walking to the counter, to order her food. Her steps were fast.
One second her lips were hovering around Lynx ears, the next she was walking really fast away from him, with a flushed face. Her ears were red too.
"Cute" Lynx thought, his eyes drifted to her ass, it was swaying as she walked seductively without her knowing. "She’s... damn." He turned around to find a seat for them, the students there were staring at him, some already taking photos of him, for their next Instalite edits. Phones were up everywhere.
The cafeteria was really big, really big. Like a massive ball room. Gold chandeliers hung from the ceiling. Marble floors. It was the main cafeteria of AETHER Blessed Academy. All students come to eat her, no matter the Year or Affinity. The noise was loud. Hundreds of conversations at once.
The school has other cafeteria’s but this was the main one. The OG eating spot in the academy, so of course it will be grand, and filled with students. Tables stretched as far as you could see.
But even here, students are above students. Some parts of the cafeteria are meant for Senior students to eat. Year 4. Rope off sections. The council of 8 which he recently learned about doesn’t eat here most of the time. They had their own private dining hall.
Year 4 students has their spot, and most of them doesn’t eat here. It was just filled with Year 1s, Year 2s, Year 3s. The Year 3s are the seniors that filled up this place.
But right now, they were staring at Lynx. Every table he passed went quiet for a second. He even saw some Year 3 students a male and female, the male was yapping to the girl, while she was just looking at him. Her food was getting cold.
When they locked gaze, she winked at him. Slow... deliberate.
He smiled at her, the smile that made almost all Year 1 girls melt on their seats and the boys thinking about changing sexuality. His heterochromatic eyes caught the light.
Her boyfriend finally stopped talking to the girl, seeing she was uninterested in his bullshit talks. He traced her eyes and saw her staring at a Junior. His face dropped.
He scrunched his eyes, and saw the Junior’s face. The one who made his girl uninterested in his talks. The guy who is dubbed the Most Handsome guy in the academy.
His jaw tightened, he clenched his fist under the table. The girl next to him didn’t even notice.
"There we go again, me not doing anything while drawing enemies with just a wink at his girl." Lynx removed his eyes from her, walked over to an empty seat, and sat down. He didn’t care about the guy, if the lady comes to him, he’d simply fuck her and cuck her boyfriend.
He saw Emily walking towards him. Her big breast jiggling as she walked. Her long, wavy dark hair cascading down her shoulders. Her dark eyes locked on his. She looked tired but still very pretty.
"Lynx, was thinking you’d be resting after your fight." She sat down. Her voice was soft.
"Why would I be?" Lynx leaned back in the chair.
"You’re literally fighting in all the Classes Ascension trials and it’s 10 am. Your Next fight starts 1pm. You’re supposed to be resting" She looked genuinely worried. Her brows were furrowed.
Lynx tucked a strand of her hair to her ears, his fingers brushing her cheek. "thanks for worrying but, I don’t need the rest. They do."
Emily laughed. "You’re impossible."
"Have you seem Kira, haven’t seen her, and she hasn’t replied my message" Lynx said while checking his phone to see if Kira has replied. Still nothing. Just more notifications.
"She’s training, apparently almost all Year 2 students that is not eating right now is either training or doing something else". Her eyes never leaving his.
"Something like what"
"I don’t know... gaming maybe".
Lynx chuckled, "yeah maybe gaming" At the same time. Ava came with 2 trays of food. The smell of grilled meat and rice filled the air.
"Ava, you’re back. Was getting really hungry" Lynx said, already reaching for a plate.
"And you’re welcome". Ava set the trays down and sat opposite Lynx. Arranging her food to eat. She didn’t look at Emily.
Lynx watched her eat. She ate fast. Really fast. He turned to Emily and saw her pretty face glued to her phone. She hasn’t said a word to Ava, and Lynx could feel the silent tension in the air between them. It was thick and awkward.
He was going to ask one of them later about it. Not now.
He dug into his food. It was actually good. "You know, I’m moving in to my personal room today. Just my personal space, me and my self." He said it casually.
Emily stood up so fast her chair scraped. "Lynx, I’ll see you later. I have to train too, fight and all... Y-you can text me your new room address too." Emily bolted. She was gone before he could answer.
He chuckled under his breath, ’oh you’ll get my room address alright’.
Ava was still eating. She didn’t look up.
"I want your address too. But you just entered the Academy and now you own your own personal room. First you were transferred directly to Year 2. Now you have your own room. The Academy is playing favors" She finally said. There was curiosity in her voice, not jealousy.
"If someone got 5 affinities, maybe more. Has godly looks, Then he deserves the favors" Lynx shrugged and took another bite.
"You’re cocky, really" Ava laughed. She wiped her mouth. "But I like it though, it’s very attractive about you." She said it honestly.
"Thanks princess, I don’t know if I should still call you princess, when you literally devoured your food in 3 minutes"
She hit him from across the table, her hand light against his arm. "shut up" She was smiling though.
Lynx raised his hands up. "I’m not saying anything anymore. But hey, what’s with you and Emily?" His voice was low.
Ava hesitated. Her fork stopped halfway to her mouth. She put it down. "I’ll tell you another time. After you win your next game, in the Lightning Affinity class"
"Okay no pressure". Lynx nodded. He could wait.
Few minutes after some talks and teases. Ava was telling him about the best food in the cafeteria. Lynx was teasing her about eating like she hadn’t eaten in days. They both walked out of the cafeteria.
The moment they stepped out, phones came up again.
"THAT’S HIM!"
"WITH AVA AGAIN!"
"BRO SHE’S FEEDING HIM!"
Lynx just put his arm around Ava’s shoulders and pulled her close. She didn’t push him away.
His phone buzzed again in his pocket.
