Chapter 7: MY WIFE CAN WHAT? 1 The wind at the edge of the northern cliffs blew fiercely across the mountain path, carrying the heavy smell of blood and smoke through the air.
Below the steep rocks, dozens of bandit corpses lay scattered across the ground. Broken weapons and fallen horses covered the battlefield while Xi soldiers moved quietly around the area cleaning the aftermath of the fight.
The battle itself had not lasted long.
Because once the Xi family army moved—
There was rarely anyone left alive to resist.
At the very front of the cliff stood two figures dressed in dark armor stained with blood.
One was tall and imposing, his face stern and mature even beneath the cold mountain wind.
Grand Duke Xi Jianyu.
Beside him stood his eldest son.
Xi Wenzhe.
Unlike his father, Xi Wenzhe looked frighteningly calm despite the blood splattered across his sleeves and sword. His black robes fluttered heavily behind him while his expression remained cold and unreadable from beginning to end.
Several soldiers nearby did not even dare raise their heads fully in his direction.
The title "Jade-Faced Devil" had never been an exaggeration.
Xi Jianyu slowly cleaned the blood from his sword before finally speaking.
"The remaining bandits?"
"Captured," one guard immediately answered while kneeling. "A few escaped into the forest, but our men are already pursuing them."
Xi Jianyu gave a small nod.
"Burn the camp before sunset."
"Yes, Duke."
The soldiers quickly moved to obey.
Meanwhile, Xi Wenzhe stood quietly near the cliff edge while looking down toward the forest below.
His expression remained indifferent.
As though the deaths beneath the mountain meant absolutely nothing to him.
Then suddenly—
Fast footsteps rushed up the rocky path.
One of the Xi soldiers hurried toward them before dropping onto one knee.
"Duke! Young Master!"
The man raised two sealed letters respectfully with both hands.
"A message from the manor."
Xi Jianyu frowned slightly before taking one of the letters.
Xi Wenzhe accepted the second one calmly.
The soldier lowered his head again.
"The message was sent urgently by the Duchess."
At those words, Xi Jianyu’s expression immediately changed slightly.
Without wasting another second, he opened the letter quickly.
Beside him, Xi Wenzhe calmly broke the seal on his own letter as well.
For a moment, only the sound of the mountain wind could be heard.
Then—
Xi Jianyu’s brows slowly furrowed deeper and deeper while reading.
Xi Wenzhe’s cold expression also paused faintly for the first time.
The contents of the letters were... strange.
Very strange.
Xi Wenzhe lowered his eyes toward the paper again.
—
Wenzhe,
The wedding ceremony has been completed successfully.
You should return to the manor soon and meet your lawful wife properly.
There are also certain matters regarding today that cannot be explained clearly through writing alone.
Something unusual has happened inside the Xi Manor.
When you return, remain calm regardless of what you hear.
