"Mr. Yan, does he really have to get his liver into better shape before he can have the surgery?"

Yan Feifan recalled Wang Zenglin’s case and explained, "The reason we need him to improve his liver function is because our proposed surgical plan involves resecting the medial segment of his liver’s left lobe. This would provide a wider surgical field to remove the bullet."

"His liver function is already poor. Resecting the medial segment on top of that would cause enough liver damage to lead to severe complications."

After a pause, Yan Feifan continued, "There is another option, which is to remove his left kidney to create a surgical window."

"However, that would require an extremely high level of precision from the lead surgeon. Any mistake could lead to paraplegia or massive hemorrhage."

Zheng Libing’s voice came slowly through the phone. "I understand. I’ll do my best to encourage him..."

Not long after ending the call with Zheng Libing, Yan Feifan received a video call from Tian Yu.

After answering a few of her questions about her studies, Yan Feifan heard the girl say in a sweet voice, "Mr. Yan, after I finish my high school entrance exams next week, will you take me out to have some fun?"

Yan Feifan scoffed lightly. "Once your exams are over, *you’ll* be free, but I still have things to do. Where would I find the time to take you out?"

"You can go hang out with Yanyan."

Tian Yu said, a hint of dissatisfaction in her voice, "What do you mean you don’t have time? You just went camping last weekend."

"Don’t even mention camping," Yan Feifan said, looking frustrated.

Tian Yu made a face at the camera. "Well, that’s what you get for not taking me with you. I’m a little lucky fairy! If you take me out with you in the future, I guarantee every day will be a bright, sunny day."

Yan Feifan shot back, "You’re about to head into battle and all you can think about is playing. If your test scores aren’t pretty, you’d better watch out or you’ll get a spanking."

"Hee hee, that won’t happen."

Tian Yu made another face, then quickly added, "Mr. Yan, I forgot to tell you something. I only just found out about it today myself."

"Yesterday, a classmate in my grade but from another class suddenly went blind. They said it happened all of a sudden."

"Mr. Yan, what do you think happened to him?"

Yan Feifan asked in return, "Has his vision always been poor? Or has it been declining steadily for a while?"

"Or was his vision always fine, and he just suddenly went blind?"

"Or has he had any symptoms like headaches or a feeling of pressure in his head recently?"

On the video call, Tian Yu was taken aback by the questions. She pouted. "Mr. Yan, I don’t know any of that."

Yan Feifan rolled his eyes. "All you know is that he suddenly went blind, and nothing else. I’m not a god. How am I supposed to know what happened to him?"

Tian Yu gave a little laugh. "Hee hee, Mr. Yan, in my eyes, you’re as amazing as a god right now."

"Hey, should I go and ask about the specific details of my classmate who went blind?"

Yan Feifan mimed flicking her forehead at the camera.

"You really do love to worry about things that aren’t your business."

"That classmate’s family will take him to the hospital for a check-up."

He then asked, "Any more questions about your studies? If not, hurry up and get back to what you should be doing..."
