"When she started speaking so hesitantly, I thought she was going to ask for some huge, unreasonable favor..."
That evening, on their bike ride back to Zuimo Court with Yu Suye, Yan Feifan brought up Chan Weiwei.
"It turns out she wanted me to pull some strings and get in touch with the famous actress, Ding Xuan. She wants to ask her to be the spokesperson for the Dawn Charity Foundation."
Yu Suye hummed in acknowledgment. "You two don’t know each other that well. Of course she wouldn’t ask you to do something difficult."
"Hey, but how did she know you could contact Ding Xuan?"
Yan Feifan chuckled and said, "I asked her the same question."
"She said she’s been following Ding Xuan closely."
"After the New Year, Ding Xuan was injured on set. They tried to keep it under wraps, but it wasn’t a huge secret."
"Lately, all sorts of rumors have been flying around online, and then last night, Ding Xuan made an official appearance, dispelling the rumors that her face was ruined."
"Add to that the donation Ding Xuan suddenly made to me a while ago, and my reputation in plastic surgery... the truth was self-evident."
Yu Suye nodded, then reminded him, "To be blunt, that’s all still just speculation and analysis on Chan Weiwei’s part."
"If you contact Ding Xuan for her, won’t that just confirm her suspicions?"
"Be careful about the confidentiality agreement you signed with Ding Xuan."
Yan Feifan chuckled, a little smugly. "Su Ye, I thought of that too."
"Of course I denied her theory."
"But I did tell her clearly that I could still contact Ding Xuan, just that I’d have to go through Zhao Xiaoting as a middleman."
He added nonchalantly, "I’m just making the connection. Whether they can reach an agreement is none of my business."
Yu Suye hummed. "The Dawn Charity Foundation is backed by a Forbes billionaire. Endorsing a charity fund can also boost a major star’s image."
"I’d say there’s a high chance they’ll strike a deal."
After a pause, Yu Suye changed the subject. "Feifan, I have something to tell you. Mrs. Qin fired Dr. Jia today."
"Fired?" Yan Feifan repeated in surprise.
Yu Suye sighed. "She just took on two students, and it’s only been a week, but she’s already let one go."
"Mrs. Qin said it’s because of you..."
Yu Suye added, "And because of me, too, of course. But it’s mainly you. She finds it hard to tolerate the clumsiness and mistakes of an average young doctor anymore."
"Today, she couldn’t take it anymore and fired Dr. Jia."
Yu Suye added with a note of regret, "From my perspective, Dr. Jia was actually quite hardworking and talented."
Yan Feifan had only met Mrs. Qin’s two new students twice and hadn’t interacted with them much.
So, he didn’t have any strong feelings about the young Dr. Jia being fired and couldn’t muster much sympathy.
"I hope Dr. Jia isn’t too crushed by this to recover."
Yan Feifan offered the casual sentiment, then couldn’t help but say boastfully, "Su Ye, let me tell you..."
"Mr. Wang has said something similar. He said that because of me, the clumsy performance of other young doctors just annoys him."
Yu Suye said sourly, "You’re so brilliant that anyone compared to you looks like a total amateur. It’s no wonder the senior doctors’ standards have been raised to impossible heights."
"When I was on night duty in the trauma surgery department, Mr. Chen’s students complained to me that he chews them out more than once..."
"He’d ask them how they could be so stupid, not even one-tenth as good as you, Feifan."
Yu Suye then joked, "Feifan, you’d better be careful. Who knows how many people want to grab you and beat you up just to let off some steam."
Yan Feifan was in a rare good mood and laughed along. "Su Ye, you’re scaring me! You’ll have to be my personal bodyguard from now on."
"Hmph, the problem is, I want to beat you up too..."
When the two of them got back to their place, they found Song Yi had come over to freeload dinner again.
"Feifan, I didn’t come to freeload, I have something to discuss with you..."
Song Yi explained as she followed Yan Feifan into the bathroom. While watching him wash his face and hands, she said, "Those pitiable, sympathetic twins are trending. News about them is all over the internet."
"This gave me an idea for a promotion..."
Song Yi pulled a clean towel off the rack and handed it to Yan Feifan, continuing, "Once our product launches, Feifan, you should take on another surgery that can create a huge sensation."
"We can get a few shots of the infusion controller in the footage for some soft-sell advertising."
After drying his hands and face, Yan Feifan carefully hung the towel back on the rack before replying, "The reason the twins are getting so much attention online is because the Dawn Fund is pushing it hard from behind the scenes."
Song Yi followed Yan Feifan out of the bathroom. "I’m aware of that."
"These days, aside from major national events, pretty much everything that trends has a company pulling the strings behind it."
She added excitedly, "We can put in the money and effort to make it happen too!"
"Feifan, if you take on a sensational case, we can handle the promotion, and it’ll be twice as effective for half the effort."
Song Yi then goaded him, "Hey, Feifan, you’re a major shareholder in the company too. You don’t have some kind of moral high ground that makes you unwilling to help, do you?"
Yan Feifan walked over to the dining table and sat down. "I wouldn’t refuse an easy opportunity for promotion like this."
