Liu Jin replied readily, "Name it. As long as it’s something the hospital can accommodate right now, we’ll make it a top priority and get it done for you as soon as possible."
Yan Feifan chuckled. "Well, Dr. Liu, I’m running between several different departments every week."
"Sometimes I work very late, and I end up sleeping either in Mrs. Qin’s medical research office or the director’s office at the plastic surgery center. Neither is very convenient."
"Dr. Liu, would it be possible to arrange an office for me?"
The words were barely out of Yan Feifan’s mouth when Liu Jin’s voice came back through the phone. "So you want your own office, huh?"
"Consider it done. I’ll handle it for you personally."
"Just be patient for a few days..."
After ending his call with Liu Jin, Yan Feifan noticed his sister had come into the room at some point and was now leaning against the wardrobe, watching him.
He glanced at the digital clock on his desk. It was already 10:10.
"Sis, you don’t have to nag me. I’m going to bed right now."
Yan Feifan tidied up the professional books and medical journals on his desk, made a quick trip to the bathroom, and then came back and obediently got into bed.
"Feifan..."
Yan Ziruo tucked the light blanket around her brother and continued, "That six million, plus the two million bonus from the plastic surgery center, and the research stipend you claimed... that’s nearly ten million altogether."
"Do you have any plans for all this money?"
Yan Feifan said casually, "I don’t have any plans, Sis. Besides, aren’t you the one who always manages the family’s finances?"
Yan Ziruo rolled her eyes at him and huffed. "I only make decisions about the small stuff. The big investments, like in Extraordinary Medical Technology and the private kitchen, were all your final call."
Yan Feifan chuckled. "Well, Sis, this time it’s a lot of money, so I’m giving you full authority."
Yan Ziruo laughed. "Since you don’t have any special plans for this money, I’ll be the one to decide..."
She began to think aloud. "We’ll need to buy a car... actually, we’ll need two."
"You and Su Ye need a car for commuting, especially when it’s windy, rainy, or cold."
"And now that our uncle is back, he’ll need a car too."
"Oh, Feifan, what do you think? Should we buy a house for him?"
Yan Feifan said thoughtfully, "Let’s not rush into buying him a house. We should wait and see how things go for a while."
"If things work out between him and Mrs. Xia, he won’t need a house. We can just give him a few million as a dowry, and he can live in her place."
Yan Ziruo nodded. "That could work."
"We don’t need to get our uncle a fancy car. One in the three to four hundred thousand yuan range will be fine."
Then she thought of something else. "We also have to set aside some of it for your income taxes."
"Feifan, your income has skyrocketed this year. The amount you’ll have to pay in taxes will be at least two million."
Yan Feifan said with a grand air, "Sis, don’t worry about taxes so soon. My future income won’t just be steady, it’ll be even higher."
He then asked, "Sis, what about your boyfriend’s startup?"
Yan Ziruo shook her head. "We’re not at that stage in our relationship yet. Getting money involved would just make things more complicated."
"I’ll just let him fumble around on his own for now."
"Oh, speaking of him, his relative’s son from his hometown, the one with the congenital heart defect? He’s supposed to come to the hospital for surgery this weekend."
"That’s still on, right?"
Yan Feifan replied, "I’ll confirm with Mr. Liang tomorrow."
They chatted casually for a few more moments until Yan Ziruo realized her brother had stopped responding. She looked closer and saw that he had fallen asleep.
’He always falls asleep so fast,’ Yan Ziruo muttered to herself.
She stood up, adjusted her brother’s pillow, turned up the air conditioning by a degree, switched off the light, and gently closed the door behind her.
