Jio Xin nodded in confirmation. "That’s what she told the police. She also confessed that not only did Mr. Tang reject her outright, he also mocked her."
"So, on impulse, she did something irrational."
Yan Feifan didn’t know what to say.
’This whole thing is so melodramatic...’
He left the plastic surgery center and went to the Little Red House to check on Carolyn, who was under observation in the ICU after her successful brain tumor surgery.
Afterward, Yan Feifan went to the emergency department, met up with Yu Suye who was waiting for him, and they left the hospital to head home together.
The moment he got home, however, his sister was all over him.
"Feifan! Feifan! Everyone in the work group chat is saying that Dr. Tang Zheng, who used to be the most handsome man in our hospital, has been disfigured!"
"They’re saying he was cheating on several women, and one of the girls whose heart he broke doused him with concentrated sulfuric acid."
"The girl supposedly shouted that she still loves Tang Zheng, and she threw the acid to prove she loves him for who he is, not for his looks!"
Yan Feifan clicked his tongue. "What kind of nonsense are you all spreading? Who has such a wild imagination to make up a story like that?"
Yan Ziruo chuckled. "I admit the rumors are a bit ridiculous. Feifan, was Tang Zheng really disfigured?"
"With concentrated sulfuric acid?"
Yan Feifan hummed in confirmation. "It was because of a medical dispute," he explained, "not a messy love affair."
"Is the disfigurement severe?" Yan Ziruo pressed.
"Even more severe than Yanyan’s."
Yan Ziruo couldn’t help but gasp. "It’s that serious? Oh, what a shame, what a terrible shame."
"I’ve never seen anyone in real life more handsome than Dr. Tang."
"It’s true what they say... fate is cruel to the beautiful..."
Not wanting to engage with his sister’s dramatic ramblings, Yan Feifan walked over to the dining room and sat down with Yu Suye for dinner.
Yan Ziruo followed him over and sat down next to him.
"Feifan, you should be able to restore his face, right?"
Yan Feifan rolled his eyes at his sister. "Seventy, maybe eighty percent, at best. You can forget about him ever having those peerless looks again."
He then shooed her away in an annoyed tone, "Okay, Sis, you know what there is to know. Now go on, let us eat in peace."
Yan Ziruo huffed, stood up to leave, but not without giving Yan Feifan a retaliatory tap on the head...
After dinner, Yan Feifan, his sister, and Yu Suye began to discuss the matter of a personal assistant.
"Right, they have to be good at fighting."
Yan Ziruo immediately agreed. "Feifan," she declared, "you’re not just any doctor anymore. You have to take your personal safety seriously."
"Feifan, we should find a retired special forces soldier, one who can really fight."
"They can be your bodyguard and your driver, and help you out with day-to-day chores."
"And it’s time to buy a car. You can’t have any energy left to ride your bike after a long day of surgeries."
After talking about the car, Yan Ziruo turned the topic back to the personal assistant.
"It would be best if they had some medical background too. Otherwise, they probably wouldn’t be able to handle the tasks you give them."
Yu Suye reminded her, "Sis, your standards are a bit high. Most special forces soldiers only have a high school diploma."
Yan Ziruo retorted, "Mr. Ho was a medic. There must be medics in the special forces too, right?"
"We’ll start by screening with high standards. If we really can’t find anyone, then we can lower our requirements."
She then added, "There should be plenty of veterans in Jingcheng."
"Su Ye, you should reach out to your friends and family, ask them for recommendations..."
