Yan Feifan rolled his eyes and teased, "If I had a great idea, why would I give it to you?"
But as he said it, an idea actually came to him.
"Zeng Ni, I do have a little idea, actually. Let’s see if you’re interested."
"What is it?" Zeng Ni asked eagerly.
Yan Feifan chuckled. "You know how on those short video apps, you always see funny clips of guys trying to hide their secret stashes of cash from their wives, only to get caught?"
"You could start a creative studio that designs and custom-makes items that look like regular household goods, but are actually designed for hiding that secret cash."
"It’s a creative business idea."
"The designs would have to be really clever and plausible..."
Seeing Zeng Ni prop her chin on her hand, lost in thought, Yan Feifan added, "The market probably isn’t huge. But if your product designs are good—real eye-catchers—it’s definitely possible that any married man who sees them would pick one or two up on impulse."
Zeng Ni’s eyes crinkled with a smile as she glanced at Yu Suye and Yan Ziruo beside her, then back at Yan Feifan. "That’s a fantastic idea."
"Feifan, how did you come up with that? Are Su Ye and Ruoruo really strict about how you spend your money?"
Yan Feifan scoffed and declared magnanimously, "If I want to spend money, who’s going to stop me—"
Noticing his sister’s gaze suddenly turn sharp, he quickly changed his tune. "I’ve got work to do. I’ll stop chatting with you guys..."
Yan Feifan only managed to finish one diagram for a tumor puncture injection that night before his sister supervised him into bed.
But lying in the darkness of his bedroom, he couldn’t shake the feeling that a pair of invisible eyes were watching him.
It scared him so much that he wasn’t the least bit sleepy.
Even the hypnotic sound of pattering rain he played by his ear did little to help.
It made him realize something.
When overriding emotions like fear and anxiety were keeping him awake, the hypnotic effect of the rain was greatly diminished.
In other words, the rain sounds could only assist with sleep; they weren’t a cure-all.
After tossing and turning a few more times, Yan Feifan finally got out of bed.
He grabbed his pillow, left his bedroom, and, guided by the dim glow of a nightlight, tiptoed across the living room and up to the attic.
Yan Feifan entered the attic’s inner bedroom. In the faint light, he saw the figure on the bed stir.
"I’m a little scared. I’m just here to sleep, so don’t get the wrong idea."
The person on the bed stifled a laugh, shifted to the side, and said in a sweet voice, "Alright."
"Come on, little Feifan, come sleep with me. I’ll even tell you a bedtime story about the Big Bad Wolf and Little Red Riding Hood."
Yan Feifan snorted softly, put his pillow down, and lay on the bed...
A moment later, a small, plaintive voice sounded in the darkness.
"He really fell asleep!"
"You jerk... you really did just come here to sleep..."
