c456: 455: Test

It was Saturday once again.

Although it was a day off for most, the hospital was even busier than usual.

Many office workers who found it difficult to take time off used this rare break to come to the hospital for check-ups or treatments.

Quite a few others came specifically to visit patients.

Those twin sisters, who had garnered immense public sympathy, were now a major focus of online attention.

This was especially true after it was revealed that the brain-dead older sister would have her organs donated after her younger sister’s hand, foot, and half-face transplant surgeries, allowing twelve patients across the country to regain their health.

This sparked even more fervent discussions online.

Not only that, but early on Saturday morning, compassionate local residents of Binhai came to the hospital to visit the sisters and offer condolences to their family.

To the Affiliated Hospital’s pleasant surprise, some people even came specifically to sign organ donation agreements.

The effect of this publicity and positive example was quite remarkable.

This Saturday, Yan Feifan and his sister also came to the hospital.

Thanks to Director Lo Jun, Yan Feifan had scheduled an overtime intraspinal tumor puncture and injection surgery for this morning.

There was another reason: they were going to interview the assistant candidate introduced by Ren Zhen.

At 7:20 in the morning, the Yan siblings arrived at the hospital and first met up with Yu Suye, who was on the night shift in the trauma surgery department.

Afterward, the three of them had breakfast in the staff cafeteria and then slowly made their way to Qin Ying’s medical research office in the emergency department.

There, they saw Office Director Ren Zhen and a young man waiting in the hallway outside the research office.

The young man was slightly shorter than Yan Feifan, about one meter seventy-five, with a neat and tidy crew cut.

His skin was somewhat dark, a healthy tan that Yan Feifan could tell came from spending years outdoors in the sun.

His features couldn’t be called handsome.

His eyes were a bit narrow, his nose wasn’t particularly high-bridged, and his face could only be described as neat—the appearance of an ordinary person.

He didn’t have a bulky build, looking just a little more solid than Yan Feifan, but his overall impression was still on the slender side.

Perhaps because of the interview today, he was wearing a shirt and tie, dress pants, and leather shoes, which made him look rather scholarly.

Yan Feifan paid special attention to his chest; there was no sign of the light-colored shirt being stretched taut by well-developed pectoral muscles.

This left Yan Feifan a little disappointed.

’He hasn’t even built up any significant muscle. Can this guy even fight?’

"Mr. Yan, good morning! This is the candidate I mentioned yesterday, Feng Jian. He’s twenty-eight and served as a soldier for seven years."

Ren Zhen briefly introduced the young man beside him, then added, "Now, you can get to know each other. I’ll leave you to it."

Watching Ren Zhen leave, Yan Feifan ushered Feng Jian into the research office and accepted the A4-sized resume he offered with both hands.

The resume, in a table format, clearly and simply listed his basic information, educational background, military life, and work experience.

Yan Feifan glanced at the resume and noticed a few key pieces of information.

His hometown was a township in the Binhai Suburb, he was a Party member, and he had received a Collective Third-Class Merit while in the military.

Yan Feifan looked up at Feng Jian, who was standing ramrod straight before him, and was just about to ask about the fight that cost him his job...

But Yu Suye, standing beside him, suddenly shot out her right foot, kicking toward Feng Jian’s abdomen.

The kick was so sudden that Yan Feifan was also a bit surprised. He knew this must have been a test his sister and Yu Suye had cooked up behind his back.

Realizing this, Yan Feifan immediately focused on how Feng Jian would react.

Feng Jian’s reaction was not slow either.

In his haste, he crossed his arms in front of his abdomen to block.

Yan Feifan’s gaze sharpened as he noticed there was a technique to how Feng Jian had crossed his arms.

His left forearm blocked the sole of Yu Suye’s shoe, while his right hand grabbed the top of her foot.

Feng Jian was using his arms as a buffer to slow the speed and force of Yu Suye’s kick to his abdomen.

Immediately after, Yan Feifan saw Feng Jian use the force of Yu Suye’s kick to retreat two large steps backward.

The problem was, his right hand still hadn’t let go of her foot.

Yu Suye cried out "Ah!" as her body was pulled rapidly downward.

Her left leg was behind her, and her right leg, held by Feng Jian, was pulled forward, forcing her into a front split of nearly two hundred degrees.

Seeing this, Yan Feifan quickly reached out to support Yu Suye, and Feng Jian released his grip at the same time.

Yu Suye stood up, nodded at Feng Jian, and commented, "Your reaction and response were good. You’ve got some skill. Very impressive."

"Thank you for the acknowledgment."

Feng Jian replied with a calm expression, then took two steps forward and once again stood before Yan Feifan in a standard military posture.

Yan Feifan was also very satisfied with the results of this test.

It showed that this guy in front of him really had what it takes.
