Arc 2: Light Shines through DarknessThe night had fallen after the wedding. Monsters appeared nearby, forcing Kael to leave to protect the people. Valencia stood by the balcony, watching from afar.
The mansion was still, as everyone hid, hoping the terror would end soon.
âWhat are you thinking about?â Vrastos suddenly appeared and asked.
Valencia frowned, seeing the dark clouds from afar.
âHow did my father seal the Demon King?â Valencia asked.
Vrastos chuckled, leaning on the balcony rails.
âIâm not sure⊠he told me that he developed a new power with mines,â he explained. Then he sighed heavily. âWhy?â
Valencia turned to him, her eyes hollow.
âDo I have the power to control it?â she wondered.
Vrastosâs brow creased. He looked at her.
âYou?â
âYes⊠his child.â
âIâm not sure⊠but if you do, your instability could weaken it,â Vrastos stated.
âMy⊠instability?â she repeated. âArenât I instabled right now?â
âNo⊠youâre calmâŠâ he chimed. âBut⊠you are also weak.â
Valencia frowned, pouting.
âYouâre still claiming that Iâm weak?â
âOh⊠itâs not a claim⊠itâs a factââ
âWell, excuse me, cosmic being⊠at least, I was able to break out of your voidââ
âThat was my mistake in letting you,â he argued, pointing at her. She glared at him. âYou were just lucky that the Supreme Mother of all kept bothering me!â
She groaned, rolling her eyes.
âWhatever⊠just teach me how to control it.â
âWhy should I?â Vrastos wondered, averting his gaze.
âYouâve been stealing the Light Esperâs aura for a while now⊠why?â she questioned.
One brow raised as he turned to look at her.
âWhy? You asked me why when I already explainedââ
âYou can leave⊠even without it,â she stated. He froze. âYou donât need the Light Esperâs aura for anything⊠other than something that youâre hiding from me.â
âWhat could I be hiding from you, little vessel?â he raised his chin and looked down at her.
She stepped forward and stared at him.
âYou need light for your dark world. For my father, my mother was his light. Roman was also a kind of light that kept him enduring everything in lifeâŠâ Valencia deduced. Vrastos gulped, his body tensed. âWhat could you possibly need from a Lightâs aura?â
Vrastos grinned and lowered his head.
âMy, my⊠look how much youâve grown. Youâre right,â he stated. Then he leaned closer to her face. âNothing is more valuable⊠than how the Light can heal.â
Valenciaâs eyes slowly widened after the whisper. Her jaw tightened. His Light that heals? Are you stealing his power?
âNo⊠little one, Iâm not stealing it. Iâm just taking the overwhelming aura that your pretty boy couldnât handle.â
âBut wonât he die if you take too much? Wonât I die?â she questioned.
Vrastos giggled and walked away, opening his portal.
âWhat do you mean? I wouldnât do anything to hurt my vessel,â he claimed.
She clenched her fists and stomped toward him.
âBut⊠whyâ?â
âJust tell her already, Vrastos,â Athesia demanded. She pushed him back forward as his portal faded.
âHey, why did you come out?!â Vrastos snapped.
Athesia crossed her arms and sighed. Her gaze moved to Valencia.
âHeâs trying to merge the Lightâs power of healing with his voidââ
âI never said you can reveal my plan!â he shouted. He flicked his fingers, opening another portal. âNow get the hell out of here!â
Athesia glanced at him and smiled before snickering.
âMy, my⊠Vrastos, you canât just admit that youâre trying to teach this to your little childââ
âSheâs not my child! Now leave!â he demanded. He grabbed her shoulder and pushed her in. He looked at Valencia, flushing. âBye!â
Once the portal disappeared, Valencia paused.
âHe⊠was trying to learn, so he could teach me?â she gasped. âHeâs really going to teach me?â
As time passed, Valencia rested for the night. Kael returned home, his hands and cloak soaking the floor with the monstersâ blood. He groaned as he entered.
