Days flew by quickly.
Kael watched Valencia maintain her composure when they were together. When she spent her time alone in the Void dimension, she wept and used her emotions to train. Each time, her Void ball would quickly disperse into nothingness.
âYouâre not holding well, little vessel,â Vrastos spoke as he observed her upcoming.
She clenched her fists in the air with restraint.
âWhat does that observation help me with? Calling me out of my flawsâŠ?â
âEmotions are good⊠but too much could go wrong,â Vrastos warned.
Valencia swung her arm between them, casting Void spikes toward Vrastos. A void wall rose from below around him.
âMy father didnât deserve such injustice!â her distorted voice claimed.
Vrastos stared at her in silence, allowing her to seethe. Her lips trembled as she held her tears in.
âYouâre right⊠he didnât deserve it,â he said softly to her. She fell to her knees and sobbed. âBut losing yourself after hearing the truth wouldnât save him. So why do you allow yourself to lose control?â
She closed her eyes, grasping the air of nothingness. Her spikes slowly shrank before disappearing. Vrastos walked to her and bent a knee before her. He patted her head gently.
âYour emotions are your strongest asset to your power. Youâre able to cast spikes when youâre angryâŠâ Vrastos explained. Valencia paused and opened her eyes, meeting his gaze. He smiled warmly. âEureonâs failure was that he was only positive and kind to everyone. He didnât know how to be angry, sad, or gloomyâŠâ
She frowned.
âIâŠâ
âLosing yourself is good when youâre able to control the emotions that come out of you.â
She sighed heavily, her gaze lingering in the nothingness.
âSo are you saying I should lose control and master that?â she wondered.
Vrastos chuckled as he looked up.
âIâm saying⊠be in control of everything that is lost.â
Her skin tingled as the last word that came out of his mouth repeated in her head. Everything that is lost? Her jaw tensed. Her hands rose, her eyes staring at the gloves that she had worn since she realized her Void Power at age five.
âIâve lost so much after I discovered that I was a Void EsperâŠâ she said. She reached her hand further away. She stared into the distance sternly. âNow I must⊠break it all into pieces!â
Her fingers traced a slow circle before curling shut. Her eyes sparkled with purple stars, yet the stars gradually expanded. Six Void balls formed in the air in front of her. Her fist in the air trembled as a vein emerged on her temple.
âLet me show them⊠what a Luvoise would have done.â
The balls shaped into spears instantly, sharp and deadly. Her eyelids narrowed.
Vrastos stood with a smirk, waving his hand in a circular motion. A huge Void shield erupted from the dimension before her spears.
âLetâs see how strong you will wield your emotions, little one.â
Valencia opened her hand, her fingers straightening. The spears quickly pierced the shield, causing dents. Her eyes flashed back to green.
âWhat?!â
Vrastos cackled, falling to the floor.
âYouâll get there soon enough.â
She pouted and glared at him.
âYou made me feel confident!â she yelled.
He chuckled and got up, patting her head.
âYou should⊠because youâve experienced pain differently than any other,â he complimented.
Valenciaâs cheeks slowly flushed as her eyes widened. Her gasp echoed.
âIs that another complimentâ?â
âBye!â He kicked her out of the dimension.
Valencia stood in the hallway, frozen. Her eyes rolled to her eyelids before her lips curved into a smile.
âVrastos is quite niceâŠâ she mumbled.
Vrastos glared at the place he pushed Valencia through.
âWhy donât you just admit that you're actually fond of his child as well?â Athesia questioned suddenly in the background.
Vrastos turned to her, blowing a raspberry.
âFond? Are you insane, Supreme Goddess?â he deflected. Then he walked further away.
âShe sure does make a stronger vessel for your power⊠youâve taught her well,â Athesia said.
Vrastos slowly came to a stop, clenching his fists.
âThatâs only because⊠she was easier to manipulateââ
âOh, donât lie to me, Vrastos. You are fed with their negative emotions,â Athesia interrupted. She walked closer to him. âYet, for some reason, her negative emotions were not as tasty as you expected.â
âWhat do you know about me?!â he roared, pushing her away by drifting the never-ending ground to an extent.
âI know that you⊠had also terrorized others by manipulating your vessels to cause destruction,â she answered. Then she raised her head and looked down at him. âYou made every human afraid of the Void Espers in her world.â
Vrastos stared at her in silence, grinding his teeth. His fists trembled as he kept every curse inside his head.
