Kael whistled a melody as he ignored William’s cry.
“Once I’m done asking, I will see you down the Tower,” he stated.
William gasped, clutching his chest tightly.
“This bastard…” he muttered, closing his eyes and sobbing. “He’s going to jump out of the window after asking. Why don’t I have any aura like you?”
Once Kael reached the top of the Tower, he opened the door and walked inside. His eyes met Lupis’s as she smiled.
“Well, well, well… who could be walking into my lair without a notice?” Lupis asked.
Kael sighed and crossed his arms as he leaned on the door frame.
“Dame Lupis, I have a question for you… about this Persai person.”
“Really? I would have never guessed. Why?”
Kael frowned, his jaw tightening.
“Who did you give this book to?” Kael asked, revealing the book in his hand. Persai’s journal.
Lupis chuckled as she walked closer.
“How did you get that book? I made sure that my errand boy gave it to the rightful owner,” Lupis declared.
Kael smiled, walking forward as he waved the book.
“I just happened to stumble upon it while I was fighting a monster yesterday… outside of the kingdom gate,” Kael answered.
Lupis furrowed her brows.
“Really? You met… Miss Elyane?”
“Elyane? Miss? Could this person be Persai’s daughter?” Kael deduced.
Lupis squinted her eyes at him before letting a heavy sigh.
“Why do you ask of her? Even if she is, what do you want from her?” Lupis argued. Kael observed her. “Did the Royal family tell you to find her?”
“Royal?” Kael questioned, his brows furrowing. “What does the Royal family have to do with her?”
Lupis gritted her teeth. Damn, if it’s not the Royal family… then why is this man asking for her? A Light Esper out of all others? She hesitated to look at his eyes.
“Why do you want from her?”
Kael tilted his head to the side as he relaxed.
“I… need to confirm something. From her—”
“No need. Now give me that…”
“No.”
Kael raised the book up, preventing Lupis from reaching for it. She glared at him.
“Give it back—”
“You’re not the owner. As you said, you gave it to the rightful owner. I…” Kael explained, and then paused. He smiled slyly. “I want to give it to the rightful owner as well.”
