Is It Light? (2)

Valencia dropped to the bed and panted as she slowly closed her eyes.

“It… better not hurt…” her voice lowered into a whisper. Then she fell asleep.

He chuckled and pecked his lips on her forehead.

“Have a good nap, my lady,” he whispered, gently brushing her hair behind her ear.

Hours had passed since Valencia closed her eyes after their intimacy. When she woke up, Kael sat on the desk nearby, looking at paperwork. She frowned, glaring at him as she turned her body.

“Is everything okay?” he asked, eyes locking on the paper.

“My… back hurts again,” she muttered.

Kael placed the paper down and stared at her. He smiled before laughing.

“You look like a stray cat who’s weary of me,” he teased.

She bit her lower lip, seething. He leaned his cheek against his hand on the table and tilted his head.

“Don’t touch me for another week after this!”

He chuckled.

“After marriage, there will be more to come,” he chimed.

“SHUT UP!” she demanded. He stood and walked over to her with flowers sprinkling around him. “Don’t come near!”

Kael snickered before hugging her tightly.

“I can’t wait for marriage!”

She pushed his face away, even though he was still smiling. She mustered every strength to push him away.

“Let go!”

“Let’s have the marriage tonight!”

“No!”

The maid knocked on the door, disrupting them and alerting Kael that Nuredus had visited.

Soon, Valencia dressed and walked down to the waiting room, where Nuredus sat sipping her tea. Nuredus looked at Valencia, then at Kael, who sparkled gleefully.

“What’s wrong with my dear son?” she asked, her face creased.

Kael hugged Valencia tightly by the waist.

“Mother, can the chapel be ready tonight?”

Nuredus dropped her teacup as she stared at him. Her eyes twitched, blinking. Veins slowly grew out of her temple.

“Are you insane?! Do you not know that a wedding needs a grand preparation?!”

“I want to marry her though… tonight.”

“Should have told me this morning! I would have prepared everything by now!”

Valencia squinted her eyes, shrinking.

“I feel like I entangled myself in a crazy family…”
