Lu Yin felt something heavy weigh on his heart. The Spirit Nidus was undoubtedly a formidable opponent. Even if Master Qing Cao did not take direct action, Ancestor Lu Yuan would not be able to stop the first wave of the invaders on his own.
Still, someone had to stay behind and guard the stone gate, and whoever that was, they could not be weak. Without sufficient strength, the guard would not even be able to send out a warning.
As an Ortuser, Ancestor Lu Yuan was the most suitable choice.
"I’ll stay with you," Hongyan Mavis offered.
Lu Yuan shook his head, rejecting the suggestion. "We don’t have enough truly powerful individuals to spare. One person staying and guarding this place will be enough. What would be the point of more? Yong Heng is still out there, as well as that old monster Yuan Qi, who attacked the Immemorial Citadel. Our enemies have not been wiped out yet. I’ll stay here alone."
"You are the correct choice, but remember, the moment the gate starts to open, leave. There’s no purpose in a meaningless sacrifice. We are facing the invasion of an entire megaverse, and your singular death won’t accomplish much. It’s unlikely for you to even take down a single enemy with you. It will be better to fight united," Mister Mu advised.
Lu Yin quickly jumped in as well. "Ancestor, don’t face the invaders alone. Listen to my master—leave as soon as the gate starts to move."
Lu Yuan laughed. "Don’t worry, I’m not Gu Yizhi. I’m much smarter than him. I won’t sacrifice myself for nothing."
No? Upon seeing Lu Yuan’s smile, Lu Yin understood that there were certain tasks that simply had to be taken care of by someone.
As his fists clenched, Lu Yin thought of Progenitor Xi. If the Tianyuan Megaverse did not want to be in a reactive state against the oncoming invasion, they would need to strike first. They had to join forces with the Consciousness Megaverse and attack the Spirit Nidus instead of waiting for the invaders to arrive.
In the end, Ancestor Lu Yuan was left alone at the boundary of the megaverse.
Mister Mu and others made their way back to the Immemorial Citadel. It was time to have the Origin Progenitor regain his full strength.
Meanwhile, Lu Yin took Jiang Feng to Whitecloud City. In his current condition, Jiang Feng was even weaker than an ordinary human. Leaving him in outer space would be the same as leaving him to die.
The sight of Jiang Feng’s condition reminded Lu Yin of Ancient God’s tragic fate. Master Qing Cao was the greatest threat that the Tianyuan Megaverse’s humans had ever faced.
At this same time, in the Ice Spirit Tribe’s universe, the Ice Lord was overseeing the rebuilding of the Ice Spirit Domain. All of the Ice Spirits were busy and bustling about.
They had been ambushed by Aeternus with their Megalith Poison. Three of the leaders of the Five Spirits Alliance had been killed, and the alliance had been greatly weakened. Still, with the Aeternals now defeated, they simply needed time to heal.
An invisible ripple swept through the universe, unnoticed by anyone, not even the Ice Lord.
The ripple traveled through the void before silently stopping beside the Iceheart. The hesitation seemed like a person in thought.
The Iceheart possessed a coldness that was capable of freezing everything, even life and death. Almost no one could get close to it.
The ripple tried to move forward several times, but it was unable to penetrate the Iceheart.
"You are the consciousness that I want to disturb the least. You are too pure. Your world revolves around only him, and even I was affected by you.
"If not for your consciousness, I would have never saved him. Now, that has led to a catastrophe.
"However, there’s no longer any other choice. I need you again."
The ripple started to dissipate, and white mountains and sea suddenly appeared, and all of them rushed towards the Iceheart.
Far away, the Ice Lord abruptly spun around. The spirit had finally noticed that something was wrong.
The Ice Spirit waved a snow-white arm, sending a chilling blast towards the Iceheart. The void froze as the attack passed through it. This was the Law of Freezing.
The sequence particles were blocked by the white mountains and sea, and an Eight Diagram Formation appeared behind the ripple, along with sequence particles that instantly trapped the Ice Lord.
"Whiteless God? How? Aren’t you dead?" The Ice Lord was startled, as he had never considered the possibility that Whiteless God could still be alive.
Reports from the Immemorial Citadel claimed that Whiteless God had been killed by Lord Lu's attack.
The white mountains and sea continued to encroach upon the Iceheart, despite being frozen. Some distance away, the Eight Diagram Formation that had trapped the Ice Lord suddenly expanded, and it enveloped all the members of the Ice Spirit Tribe, rendering them unable to escape or send out any messages.
The Five Spirits Alliance’s universes were connected to the Origin Universe, but at this moment, all of the Ice Spirits were trapped within the Eight Diagram Formation. It was impossible for the Origin Universe to sense anything.
The Megalith Poison had been purged from the Ice Lord, but he had not yet fully regained his strength. If he left his universe, his sequence particles would greatly diminish. This was why the powerhouse had not fought at the Immemorial Citadel. After being trapped by Whiteless God, it seemed impossible for the Ice Lord to escape, not unless he managed to tap into the Iceheart’s sequence particles. However, doing so would instantly shatter the Iceheart. The Ice Spirit could not make such a decision, and he could only helplessly watch on as the white mountains and sea continued to press in. It looked like the Iceheart was about to be destroyed and that Ming Yan would be taken away.
Ming Yan was the most important person to Lord Lu.
The white mountains and sea continued to break free of the freezing cold, pressing forward, only to be frozen yet again. Time passed, and the white world slowly drew closer to the Iceheart.
Just as the white mountains and sea were about to touch the Iceheart, a jade-white hand emerged, and it reached out to stop the white world.
While the hand looked soft and delicate, it easily stopped Whiteless God’s Progenitor’s world. A melodious voice spoke up. "Whiteless God? The most mysterious of the Seven Skygods? You've disturbed my sleep."
A graceful silhouette stepped out of the Iceheart. The woman’s snow-white skin sparkled like it was covered with crystals. She had long hair that fell to her waist, and her appearance was flawless in every single way. Bright eyes stared at the ripple, filled with curiosity and a mysterious glint.
Whiteless God was stunned. "Who are you?"
She had thought that the Iceheart held only Ming Yan, but clearly, this woman was not Ming Yan.
This woman was powerful enough to block Whiteless God's attack. There was no doubt that she was a peer of the Seven Skygods.
The woman stepped forward. Her clothes were white, and a smile touched her lips. "My name is Bai Qing. I am from Whitecloud City."
The ripple suddenly vanished, much to Bai Qing’s surprise. "A microscopic ability? So this is Whiteless God."
Beautiful plants instantly sprouted and blossomed beneath her feet. She looked around and frowned. Whiteless God was incredibly powerful, and she was a very difficult opponent. When Bai Qing had first entered her slumber, Whitecloud City had not been at war with Aeternus. The fact that she had awoken to an attack from Whiteless God left the woman uncertain of what that meant for Whitecloud City.
Because of the pain that she had once suffered on Earth, Bai Qing had become unwilling to stay there, and she had only wished to remain sleeping in the Iceheart. If she ended up being the reason why Whitecloud City was facing an opponent as powerful as Aeternus…
This thought made Bai Qing hesitate.
Suddenly, the void nearby warped, and three objects burst into the universe to float in front of Bai Qing.
She stared at the three mirebound artifacts in shock. How could this be? Jiang Feng, you…
There was no time for her to consider things any further. Whiteless God was nearby, and it would be a disaster if she stole the mirebound artifacts.
Bai Qing grabbed the sword. The black pearl and withered tree both entered her body, and as they did so, the nearby plants all dissipated. The woman held the sword and then thrust it straight into her own body.
The sword pierced her effortlessly, and ripples spread out in front of Bai Qing's eyes.
