c3365: The Power Of Aeons

Professor Wei looked at the Seraph, whose fingers had taken on a golden color. She looked completely unconcerned as she brought out a pair of scissors and a paper cutout. “Without the Mirari Realm, it is impossible to attain a certain level of mastery over the power of time. If Lu Yin can see past this level, then he might actually be able to defeat your Spirit Nidus.”

With that, she cut the paper in half. “This person was called Nong Yi.”

As the paper was cut, the round-faced old man seemed to hear the roar of a river running in reverse as an indescribable, invisible power fell upon him. He could not understand anything that was happening. He spat out a mouthful of blood and stared at Professor Wei in horror. Was this... the power of time?

Without a connection to the Mirari Realm, the Spirit Nidus had very limited knowledge of the power of time. However, the old man was a Seraph, and he was not entirely helpless. He was capable of seeing through Lu Yin’s movements that were at the speed of time, and he could even overcome that ability.

Despite that, Professor Wei’s technique left the old man completely bewildered.

What sort of ability had she used? It definitely had something to do with time, and from the past at that.

Forgotten Ruins God, Wang Xiaoyu, and Blackless God all gave Professor Wei looks of dread. None of them were able to understand how the paper cutouts worked either.

True God spoke up. “You attempt to change karma by altering the past, but since the River of Aeons[1] cannot flow backwards, a wave is created instead.”

The round-faced old man was startled. Was that even possible?

A smile spread across Professor Wei’s face as she looked at the old man and pulled out another paper cutout. “Everyone you’ve ever interacted with will produce a wave in the River of Aeons when there is an attempt to reverse the flow and alter the past. Since the river can’t be reversed, the force of the River of Aeons’s relentless flow delivers a heavy blow.

“Nong Yi was the first Progenitor in the Tianyuan Megaverse that you killed. Lu Yin cares deeply about that man’s death.”

She shook the second paper cutout. “This person is called Shao Chen.”

She looked over at Bao Qi before continuing, “He helped you enter Dukkha.”

Bao Qi’s expression tightened as he stared intently at the paper cutout. If this paper was cut, he would suffer in the same manner as the other Seraph.

The old man glared at Professor Wei with murder in his eyes. Such methods must have come from the Mirari Realm, as they made use of the River of Aeons. He had to obtain such a technique for himself.

While the Seraph had been badly injured, that did not mean that Professor Wei could defeat him. Her attack had been more of a sneak attack.

The old man understood that he was facing another person who was overcoming Dukkha. It was surprising to learn that the Tianyuan Megaverse had another powerful expert.

Professor Wei glanced at the two Seraphs. “I understand your desire for the Mirari Realm. By telling Lu Yin, I am also granting you the chance to kill him in the Mirari Realm. Whether you enter that place or not is up to you.”

With that, the woman slowly disappeared.

The old man wanted to attack, but True God spoke up. “You can’t stop her. She is able to see the future. If she had foreseen that you are capable of stopping her, she would have never shown up at all.”

“Is that possible?” The old man’s eyes blazed brightly.

Forgotten Ruins God laughed. “It’s time to meet little Lu Yin again! That woman is not part of the Heavens Sect, and it’s possible that Lu Yin won’t even believe her. Even if the Mirari Realm does appear, he won’t take too many people with him as he has to leave enough people behind to guard against your Spirit Nidus and us. Everyone, the Mirari Realm is the perfect opportunity to kill Lu Yin.”

“Who was that woman?” Bao Qi asked.

True God answered indifferently, “I don’t know. She was around during the ancient Heavens Sect. If Tian Ci were still alive, he might be able to tell you.”

“How did she find us in this place?” The old man’s expression grew frigid.

True God fell silent.

The old man’s attention suddenly fell upon Blackless God, and bloodlust lit up in the Seraph’s eyes. “It was you!”

Blackless God’s expression shifted, and his black-lined eyes moved. “I have no connection to Wei Nu.”

The old man’s eyes narrowed further. “The Consciousness Megaverse’s conscients can’t be trusted!”

Blackless God’s voice dropped low. “Which is why we were sent here to the Tianyuan Megaverse. Here, we have never betrayed Aeternus.”

True God looked over at the old man. “Wei Nu didn’t find us. She found Tai Hong.”

“The Great Sovereign?” Bao Qi asked in surprise.

Forgotten Ruins God exclaimed, “I remember now! Wei Nu and Tai Hong were acquaintances. Given Wei Nu’s mastery of time, it’s possible that she did something to Tai Hong which allowed her to locate the Six Paths of Reincarnation Realm.”

The old man frowned. “Did you really allow such a person to act freely for so long? It’s no wonder why Aeternus ultimately lost, even with our support.”

Forgotten Ruins God chuckled. “Be careful. We Aeternals might have lost, but your Spirit Nidus might not prove to be invincible either.”

The old man glanced at Forgotten Ruins God. “Will the Mirari Realm actually appear? Could this be another one of Lu Yin’s schemes?”

True God shook his head. “No. Wei Nu has her own goals, and I cannot see through her. What I do know is that she and Lu Yin will never join forces. The path to Immortality is too narrow for so many to travel it.”

The old man’s fingers twitched. Too narrow?

He looked out at the stars of the Tianyuan Megaverse. This megaverse would ultimately be reset, but how many would be able to take advantage of that event? When would the High Seraph arrive?

In the Heavens Sect, Lu Yin received word that the Mirari Realm would soon open. Wei Nu had sent the message.

Why is Wei Nu suddenly opening the Mirari Realm? Lu Yin felt puzzled, but he did not doubt that the woman could do as she claimed. After all, she was the River of Aeons’s ferryman.

He could only hope that, when she was in the Mirari Realm, she would not be able to notice Destiny’s ambush. It was not yet time for the restart.

The Mirari Realm would open soon. Lu Yin had been informed, but had others received the same information? For example, Aeternus or the Spirit Nidus cultivators?

Lu Yin did not believe that Wei Nu would open the Mirari Realm for him alone. The River of Aeons’s ferryman had her own goal, which was to simply overcome Dukkha. Every Dukkhan was insane, and Wei Nu was not even from the Tianyuan Megaverse.

The proof was clear: Wei Nu had not shared the exact time or even the location of where the Mirari Realm would appear with Lu Yin. She had merely informed him that it would appear. This was obviously done to prevent him from gathering people to ambush others who tried to enter the Mirari Realm. Most likely, Aeternals and people from the Spirit Nidus had also been informed.

Lu Yin left the Heavens Sect and went to the Immemorial Citadel to meet with Mister Mu.

“Wei Nu wants to open the Mirari Realm? Even I can’t guess at what she’s planning,” Mister Mu said.

Lu Yin grew curious. “Master, the Mirari Realm has been anchored to this megaverse and the River of Aeons dammed up. Is Wei Nu able to undo that?”

“She certainly is,” Mister Mu replied solemnly. “Wei Nu is the ferryman of the River of Aeons. No matter how powerful my techniques might be, I cannot surpass the River of Aeons itself. As long as she is the ferryman, she can fully control it.

“Destiny offered you a chance to restart everything, and that’s entirely because of Wei Nu. No one else could make such a thing happen, not even me.”
