Chapter 16: Upgrading the Dormitory Area Two hours later.
Zhao Qing grabbed Yang Lele’s collar and stared at him with rage. She then asked with an icy voice, "Why can’t I enter?"
As she spoke, she turned her head and looked at the gravity field behind her. That invisible barrier made her feel extremely puzzled.
This thing actually blocked her out of the gravity field.
Yang Lele smiled helplessly and shrugged. After that, he spoke, "Maybe you have not read the words on the sign there yet."
As her eyes followed the direction Yang Lele was pointing at, Zhao Qing released her hold and walked forward. After standing before the wooden sign, she grabbed it with her arms. She then turned her head and looked at Yang Lele as she sulked. "I hate you!"
"I knew you would say that. Earlier, you still said that you wouldn’t hate me. How long has it only been? You changed your opinion of me already."
"Don’t talk to me!"
Zhao Qing left the gravity field in anger.
Yang Lele was helpless and could only follow her.
At night, the two of them kept bickering. Yang Lele got his ’wish’ of being hated by Zhao Qing.
Later on, when they walked out of the forest, they ran into Wen Ping.
Yang Lele hurriedly took out a banknote and said, "Sect Leader, she says she also wants to join the Immortal Sect. This is the entry fee."
Wen Ping took it. At the next second, he glanced at the angry Zhao Qing and asked, "Did you guys quarrel and have a conflict?"
Yang Lele nodded and explained, "She is blaming me for not telling her in advance that we can only use the gravity field for six hours per day."
When Wen Ping heard this, he couldn’t help laughing in his heart.
He knew that right now, Zhao Qing would surely be feeling an extreme itch in her heart.
Zhao Qing didn’t wait for Wen Ping to speak and impatiently asked, "Sect Leader Wen, why would the gravity field have such a strange rule?"
"Is it strange?"
"It’s very strange. We can only cultivate for six hours, but there are twenty-four hours in a day. Can you remove the time limit? I have money. I can cultivate every day in the gravity field, and Sect Leader, you will be able to earn a lot of money," said Zhao Qing.
Wen Ping smiled yet felt pain in his heart at the loss of his ’supposed earnings’. However, he still maintained the demeanor a sect leader ought to have. He then replied, "Rules are rules. Even if you are willing to pay 30 or 40 gold per two hours, I won’t break the rules for you."
"How about 50 gold?" Yang Lele hurriedly spoke in support, "I’m willing to pay."
"Eh..." There were three members in the sect right now, so that would be a total of 150 gold per 2 hours.
However, Wen Ping couldn’t change the rule set by the system. So, he could only shake his head and steel his voice. "No."
"60 gold. I’m willing to pay this amount for both of us each," haggled Yang Lele.
"Nope." Wen Ping’s body shuddered.
"80 gold?"
"There’s no need for any other discussion." Right now, Wen Ping wanted to leave this area quickly. He truly wasn’t able to endure such temptation.
"How about ten times your asking price? 100 gold coins. Sect Leader Wen, what do you think?" asked Zhao Qing.
Zhao Qing felt that her understanding of humans was very clear. Which humans wouldn’t be greedy for money and worship authority and power? 1,000 gold coins to join the sect might seem expensive, but it was a one-time thing. However, the gravity field was different.
Since she mentioned 100 gold for two hours, it meant that each of them would pay around 300 extra gold per day. With this amount of money, the fee for three days of cultivation would be almost equal to the entry fee of 1,000 gold. If this continued for a long period, she would be able to let Wen Ping earn several tens of thousands of gold.
She believed Wen Ping knew how to count.
Several tens of thousands of gold coins were sufficient to build a brand new sect.
However, Wen Ping’s words stumped her until she didn’t know what to reply. "It won’t work even if you are willing to pay 1,000 gold. Rules are rules."
(Are there really people who don’t want money?)
Zhao Qing’s heart was filled with shock, but she couldn’t help but nod in praise for Wen Ping’s character. At the same time, she silently scolded him for being an idiot.
After sending Wen Ping away with her gaze, she stared at the gravity field behind her helplessly.
She could only come back here again tomorrow.
Right now, she believed that saying—a starving camel was still bigger than a horse. So what if the Reliance Sect was infinitesimally close to the 2-stars ranking?
It still wouldn’t be as strong as a true 100-year-old 2-stars sect.
Yang Lele stood at the side and helplessly spoke, "See. It isn’t that I didn’t wish to tell you about it, but it would be useless even if I told you. Even Elder Yun Liao has to comply with the rules set by Sect Leader Wen, let alone you and me."
"You must be doing so intentionally, right?"
"How can that be? Our relationship is one that has been tempered through life and death. When have I ever lied to you before?" Yang Lele chortled. However, his smile had completely nothing to do with the content of his words and the tone of his voice. He was basically saying ’Yes, I’m swindling you. How is the feeling of having meat before your eyes but not being able to eat it?’.
"It would then be strange if I believed you."
Zhao Qing shot a cold look at Yang Lele.
"Sect Leader Wen, where are we staying at?" Zhao Qing quickly caught up to Wen Ping. After that, she seemed to have thought of something as she asked, "Oh right, Sect Leader Wen, could the residential area of the Immortal Sect be as magical as the gravity field?"
"You guess."
Wen Ping smiled.
"It can’t be that there’s also a time restriction, right?"
"How can a place used for sleeping have such rules?" Wen Ping shook his head as he cast a few more glances at the ling fish who was tormented very badly by the gravity field.
