c619: Use Magic to Make Me Understand What Animals Say (2)

He didn’t dare to touch anything, afraid he might break it.

After the car started, Inky flew to the window, chirping, "Renee, should Robin come along?"

Renee asked, "Do you want to come with us? Or would you rather play with your friends?"

Inky replied, "Robin wants to come."

A smile spread in Renee’s eyes. "Alright, then come on in."

Inky immediately flew onto Renee’s lap.

Witnessing this, Willow’s eyes filled with astonishment. "Miss, are you talking to that little bird?"

Renee raised an eyebrow. "I can talk to animals using Magic."

"For real?" Glenn was stunned. "Then can you use Magic to let me understand what animals are saying?"

"Probably not." Renee chuckled. "But I can use Magic to let animals understand what you’re saying."

Glenn blinked. "But then I wouldn’t know if it really understood me."

The smile on Renee’s lips deepened. "Glenn, you’re very smart."

Receiving the compliment, Glenn instantly grew shy, scratching his head with a bashful grin. "Really?"

Renee looked back at him, her expression serious. "Really. You’re very smart. If you went to school, you’d become even smarter."

"Does going to school make you smarter?" Glenn asked, puzzled.

"Of course," Renee said softly. "At school, you can learn a lot of interesting things and improve your logical thinking. It helps us learn how to think better."

Listening to this, Willow nodded with a serious look on her face. "Right. My mom used to say that knowledge can change a person’s destiny."

"Your mom was very right." Renee frowned slightly, a look of confusion appearing on her simple, pretty face. "But there’s something I find very strange."

Curious expressions appeared on both Willow’s and Glenn’s faces at the same time.

"What is it?"

"What’s strange?"

Renee spoke slowly, "Your mother told you that knowledge can change your destiny, yet here you are, at an age when you most need to be absorbing knowledge, choosing instead to sell fruit at the wet market. Why is that, exactly?"

Willow fell silent.

Glenn looked at his sister, not knowing how to answer.

A short while later, the car pulled up in front of a Western-style restaurant.

KFC and McDonald’s only had things like hamburgers and fried wings—the selection was too limited. She wanted them to try a wider variety of good food.

But it was only a little past nine, and this was the only place showing as open.
