She did a quick count; there were a total of fourteen people tonight, so she asked the waiter to remove four chairs.
Kyle Morgan and Zachary Conway arrived with Sawyer. All three were holding bouquets.
Sawyer brought fresh flowers, Zachary Conway brought a vegetable bouquet, and Kyle Morgan brought a fruit bouquet.
Renee raised an eyebrow and gave them a thumbs-up. "Very practical. I love it."
"Actually, there’s one more gift." Kyle Morgan casually pulled a small gift box from his pocket. "The boss asked me to give you this."
At his words, Renee blinked in surprise. She took the small box and teased with a smile, "Your boss is so thorough. He might not be here in person, but his gift certainly is."
Zachary Conway burst out laughing. "You can say that again! Levi Hollis would never be this slick. I bet he has no idea the boss sent a gift on the sly."
"Is this what they call a ’backstab’?" Renee joked, raising an eyebrow. "Good thing I’m not their boss."
"Renee, happy birthday!" Michelle Fuller’s cheerful voice rang out from the doorway—a classic case of hearing her before you see her.
"You guys have a seat," Renee said to Sawyer and the others before walking quickly to the door to greet her. "Michelle, Hank, you’re here."
Michelle Fuller was cradling a bouquet of golden flowers, which glittered brilliantly under the lights. "Renee, I made these gold flowers myself! Happy birthday, and may you always have money to spend!"
"You made these?" Renee asked, holding the flowers, her face alight with surprise. "Michelle, you’re getting so talented! They’re beautiful."
"I’m glad you like them." Michelle Fuller then handed over another gift.
Seeing this, Renee couldn’t help but laugh. "Didn’t you already give me one?"
"This is a birthday present too, and you have to take it," Michelle Fuller said, her expression serious and allowing no refusal.
Renee had no choice but to accept it.
Sean Fuller’s gift was also eye-catching: two Hermès bags. "Renee, happy birthday. I hope you like my gift."
"Hank, this is too much." Renee felt awkward accepting such an expensive gift.
"It’s not extravagant at all," Sean Fuller said with a solemn expression. "Renee, you saved my life. Frankly, I feel like two bags is a bit cheap."
’The only reason he hadn’t given her more was that the other bags he’d picked out weren’t in stock.’
Hearing his words, Kyle Morgan couldn’t help but pinch Zachary Conway’s thigh.
Zachary winced in pain, gritting his teeth to keep from crying out. "Are you insane? Why’d you pinch my thigh?"
"If I didn’t pinch you, I’d go over and pinch him," Kyle Morgan said without a shred of guilt. "So I’ll just pinch you. What’s wrong with taking one for your future brother-in-law?"
Zachary Conway: "..."
He scrambled to clamp a hand over Kyle Morgan’s mouth, his eyes wide with panic. "What are you talking about?!"
