Hearing his voice, Willow’s gaze finally focused on his face. She murmured, "Glenn, your dad killed Mom. What... what are we going to do now?"
Glenn blinked, his small, gaunt face filled with confusion. "I don’t know either."
An immense sadness enveloped Willow.
’Mom was dead.’
’She didn’t have a mother anymore.’
Renee Jennings came in with two cups of milk tea and asked softly, "Are you two sleepy? Do you want to go back and get some sleep?"
Willow shook her head silently.
’She and Glenn had nowhere to sleep anymore.’
Glenn clutched his milk tea, his eyes red-rimmed, and asked Renee Jennings, "Miss, where will my sister and I go? We don’t have a home anymore."
Renee Jennings patted his head and said gently, "You’ll have a place to go, don’t worry. For the next few days, you can stay at my place."
"Thank you, Miss," Willow said, looking at her gratefully. "Thank you so, so much. I’ll find a way to get a job and earn money to support Glenn."
’She didn’t dare to think about school anymore.’
"Don’t worry about money," Renee Jennings comforted her warmly. "You’re still a child. You need to be in school."
As before, she took Willow and Glenn home with her.
Everyone was just as warm to Willow and Glenn as before. No one mentioned Polly Eames, pretending they didn’t know what had happened.
Willow’s heart ached, but in such a warm and comforting atmosphere, she sometimes found herself forgetting her sorrow.
That evening, Renee Jennings waited until Willow and Glenn had gone to their room to sleep before she went into the study to prepare for her livestream.
She hadn’t actually posted a stream announcement and wasn’t planning to go live, but her heart was heavy, and she wanted a distraction.
[Huh, a surprise stream?]
[Whoa, I can’t believe I caught this!~~~]
[Good evening, Ms. Jennings! There are a thousand people here now. Can we start the call-ins? That gives me a one-in-a-thousand chance.]
Renee Jennings pursed her lips slightly. "Sure. Let’s start the call-ins now."
A user named "Spicy" successfully connected, and a beautiful woman with curly hair appeared on the split screen.
"Yay!" Spicy cheered immediately. "This is awesome, so awesome! I really got through! Ms. Jennings, you’re the best!"
"Hello, Chilli," Renee Jennings said with a small smile.
Spicy waved, her smile radiant. "Hi, Ms. Jennings!"
"Is there anything I can help you with?" Renee asked.
Spicy nodded. "Yes, yes, there is."
"Alright, go ahead."
"I have a Golden British Shorthair at home. He’s usually very good-tempered and incredibly well-behaved, but lately, whenever I video chat with my best friend, he gets really aggressive..."
