c539: "A Human Brought You Here? (2)

"HISS~ Yes. I want him to take me home. Snake has been wandering around this godforsaken place for half the day and just can’t find a way out."

"I understand," Renee Jennings said gently. "I can help you. Do you trust me?"

Black Mamba: "HISS~ Of course. We’re the same kind. Who else would I trust?"

"I’m glad you’re willing to trust me." Renee Jennings tentatively took a step toward it.

Charles Lockwood was incredibly nervous, cold sweat trickling down his back, terrified that Renee Jennings would be bitten.

After all, if something happened on his property, he would bear a heavy responsibility.

Seeing that the Black Mamba showed no signs of attacking, Renee Jennings continued to close the distance between them.

She carefully extended a finger and gently tapped its head. "So, are we friends now?"

"HISS, of course~" As soon as the Black Mamba finished speaking, its long, slender body voluntarily coiled around her arm.

The hearts of everyone else present leaped into their throats.

Renee Jennings was actually a little nervous herself. The last time she faced a cobra, she had exchanged for the "Soul of Ten Thousand Beasts" and "Hundred Times Animal Affinity."

This time, she hadn’t done anything but simply communicate.

Thankfully, this Black Mamba was easy to get along with.

Seeing the Black Mamba wrapped around Renee Jennings, Sean Fuller’s tense body suddenly went slack. His legs gave out, and he collapsed onto the floor.

"PHEW—"

Sean Fuller let out a long breath and burst out crying with a "WAAAAH."

"WAAAAH, WAAAAH."

"I was scared to death, WAAAAH."

"I thought I was going to die here today."

Michelle Fuller quickly rushed to his side, comforting him in a tearful voice, "It’s okay now, Sean. Don’t be scared, don’t be scared."

"Sis..." Sean Fuller hugged her, his voice full of grievance. "I was really scared to death just now."

For once, Michelle Fuller was acting like a proper older sister. She patted his back gently and soothed, "Go on and cry. You’ll feel better if you let it all out."

Ten minutes later, the group returned to the theater.

Renee Jennings sat on the sofa with the Black Mamba still coiled around her. Michelle Fuller and the other three stood behind the small bar.

Sean Fuller looked at Renee Jennings with immense gratitude, his voice nasal from crying and full of emotion. "Renee, from this day on, you’re not my sister, you’re my savior! You’ve given me a new lease on life!"

Hearing this, Michelle Fuller’s brow furrowed in confusion. "Then from now on, won’t you have to call Renee ’Dad’ or ’Mom’?"

Renee Jennings: "..."

Renee thought she was going to die laughing at Michelle Fuller.

’How does this girl manage to miss the point every single time?’

Sean Fuller was successfully led astray. He asked with a completely serious face, "Renee, tell me, would you prefer I call you Dad or Mom? Whatever you say, I’ll call you that!"

Renee Jennings: "..."

’Like brother, like sister.’

She sighed helplessly. "Just keep calling me Renee from now on. Calling me ’Dad’ or ’Mom’ is too weird."

"I think it’s a little weird too." Michelle Fuller nodded in agreement. "Then just stick to calling her Renee."

"Okay, Renee." Sean Fuller obediently agreed.

Charles Lockwood looked at Renee Jennings, his eyes filled with sincere gratitude. "Renee, thank you so much for today."
