c605: Save the Cat’s Owner (2)

In front of the screen, Renee Jennings was speechless. "..."

’What does he mean, "loves sticking her nose where it doesn’t belong?"’

’Is that falcon only running his mouth like that because he’s an official asset?’

’Fine. Next time, he’s not getting any meat.’

At Zephyr’s words, Dumpling’s big, round eyes suddenly lit up with a glimmer of hope.

It gathered its courage and crept closer to the window. "Then please, have your friend save my master! Please!"

Zephyr told him, "You have to answer a question for me first."

Dumpling tilted his head. "What question?"

Zephyr asked, "Why did that male want your master to lick his toes?"

Renee Jennings: "..."

’Why is he still stuck on the toes? Is that really the priority here?’

Dumpling shook his head, looking lost. "I don’t know either."

"How can you be so dumb?" Zephyr said with a look of disdain.

Dumpling’s mouth formed a sad little line. "I’m sorry. Can you still save my master?"

Zephyr finally got down to business. "What’s your master’s name? Do you know your apartment number?"

"Yes, yes!" Dumpling nodded its little round head emphatically. "My master’s name is Levi Brooks, and the apartment number is..."

"The apartment number is 28C," Renee Jennings repeated softly.

"Good." Henry Stark nodded and dialed Levi Hollis’s number. "The victim’s name is Levi Brooks. He’s in 28C. Move in and make the arrest."

"Roger that!" Levi Hollis hung up and entered the lobby of Aethelgard Estates’ Phase Two with Zachary Conway.

Inside the elevator, Zachary Conway raised his hand and pressed the button for the 28th floor.

After the assault, Gregory Dawson was covered in sweat. He went into the bathroom and took a shower.

Towel-drying his hair, he walked over and opened the refrigerator.

When he opened the door and saw what was in the fridge, his brow furrowed. He cursed under his breath, "Dumbass. So rich, and this is the crap you eat?"

He then squatted down, opened the freezer, and pulled out a few boxes of steak.

"This isn’t bad," he muttered, "but you have to cook it. What a pain."

Gregory Dawson tossed the steaks back in. He was about to grab Levi Brooks’s phone to order some takeout when the doorbell rang.

His back went rigid. A flash of panic and unease crossed his eyes.

’Shit, someone’s here!’

Sweat beaded on Gregory Dawson’s forehead. He gritted his teeth and decided to pretend he hadn’t heard anything, standing frozen in place.
