Sean Fuller sent the message he had just finished typing.
Five minutes later, he received a video call from her.
"Whoa..." Sean Fuller was so startled he nearly dropped his phone on his face. "Why is she video calling me all of a sudden?" he muttered.
He scrambled out from under the covers, rushed to the dresser to fix his hair, then hopped back into bed and answered the call.
"Hey, Yvonne. You’re still up?"
On the other end of the line, Yvonne Morgan was wearing a full face of makeup. She had on a black slip dress with a low-cut neckline that revealed a wide expanse of her fair skin.
Sean Fuller’s eyes landed on the screen, but he quickly looked away.
Yvonne Morgan noted his reaction, and a flicker of contempt crossed her eyes.
A smile touched her lips, and she spoke in a gentle voice. "If I told you I was waiting for your reply, would you laugh at me?"
"Huh?" Sean Fuller was completely taken aback. "W-Waiting for me?" he stammered.
"I messaged you this afternoon and never heard back. I was worried."
"Oh, I..." Sean Fuller was blushing furiously. Completely flustered, he was at a loss for words. "You..."
Yvonne Morgan was very pleased with his reaction. She let out a delicate laugh. "Sean, I’m just teasing you."
"J-Just teasing?" Sean Fuller finally calmed down a little. "Oh, I see."
"I went out with friends tonight," Yvonne Morgan said with a smile. "I had just gotten home when you messaged me back."
"Oh, I see." Sean Fuller nodded. "Did you have a good time?"
"I think I would’ve had even more fun if I were with you."
"For real?"
Yvonne Morgan maintained a gentle, faint smile, but inwardly, she thought, ’This man is so boring. Not a romantic bone in his body.’
"By the way, Sean, what did you mean when you said you almost died today? Reading that made me so nervous."
Sean Fuller replied, "I was at a friend’s private theater today, and I ran into a venomous snake from Continent F in the restroom."
"A venomous snake from Continent F? Sean, did it bite you?" Yvonne Morgan’s expression grew concerned.
"I’m fine." A hint of pride crept into Sean Fuller’s expression. "My sister saved me. If it weren’t for her, you might be talking to my ghost right now."
Yvonne Morgan was speechless.
She forced a smile. "Well, I’m glad you’re okay. Your sister sounds incredible."
"She is! She’s amazing." Sean’s voice swelled with pride. "She can catch snakes with her bare hands. To her, even venomous ones are like harmless caterpillars."
Yvonne Morgan’s eyes glinted. "Sean," she asked, "are you talking about your actual sister?"
"Yeah, my actual sister." His expression was completely serious.
"Your sister can catch snakes with her bare hands?" Yvonne Morgan asked, astonished.
"Yep. She’s really incredible."
’This is strange,’ Yvonne Morgan thought. ’How did Michelle Fuller get so formidable? What’s the deal with her and Renee Jennings?’
’One can understand animals and isn’t afraid of tigers or lions, and the other isn’t afraid of venomous snakes?’
"Oh, right, Yvonne." A bashful note entered Sean Fuller’s smile. "Can you give me your address? I want to send you something."
"Send me something?" Yvonne Morgan waved her hand demurely. "Oh, there’s no need."
"I insist," Sean Fuller said. "If you don’t tell me, it means you don’t consider me a friend."
"Sean!" Yvonne Morgan said his name sweetly, then sighed as if utterly defeated. "Alright, then. I don’t know what to do with you."
A smile broke out across Sean Fuller’s face. "That’s more like it. Go ahead and send me your address. It’s getting late, Yvonne. You should get some rest."
"Okay." Yvonne Morgan nodded. "I’m hanging up, then?"
"Go ahead."
"Talk to you later, Sean."
After the call ended, Sean Fuller let out a sigh of relief, tossed his phone aside, and slid down from the headboard and under the covers.
Phew...
’That Yvonne is so careless, wearing so little for a video call with a guy. Tsk, not everyone is a gentleman like me.’
A moment later, his phone chimed. DING.
He grabbed his phone and saw a voice message from Yvonne Morgan.
He pressed play, and her saccharine voice filled the air.
"Sean, I’ve been thinking... why don’t we just meet up? You don’t have to mail it to me. When are you free?"
’Give it to her in person?’
’That could work.’
Sean Fuller typed out a reply: [Okay. When works for you?]
