c115: Practically Failure

Chapter 115: Chapter 115 Practically Failure My eyes had gone straight to where he is and zeroed him out automatically. My breathing starts to skip. Is it not still too early for him to start troubling me? Why do I have to start dealing with his antics so soon?

"You!" Mr squeaky bald points at me, making me jolt and snap my eyes away from Calix and look at him. "If you are taking this class, come in and sit down! Why are you still standing there?" I mutter an apology to him and start to go look for a seat in the same fashion I always do. Somewhere inconspicuous. I was going for one when the person besides it suddenly throws a note on it. "Sorry. Occupied." I say nothing and go towards another. One is besides Gary Hart who is a douche to say the least. But I would not mind having to seat with him now. The damn class would take only forty-five minutes anyway. It would pass by quickly—hopefully. "Oh, you can’t sit here. Sorry. You know I’ve got long legs. Those are for my legs, see." He stretches his legs out and put them on the chair to prove his useless point.

This two time seat rejection should not normally be a problem. But now it just suddenly is. The class is so full today, which is something very unusual. Classes are usually scanty and unoccupied. Mostly when it comes to Mr squeaky bald’s math class because the privileged students decides whether or not a class is important for them to sit through it. But now the class is so full like half a quarter of the students population is present for this class, why is that?

There is just one row of empty seats which just one person is occupying. And he is sitting right in the middle.

"You, find somewhere to sit so we can start the class or leave!" Mr squeaky bald tells me in a serious tone. I dragged my legs to move. Forcing myself to seat down besides the lion. My hands quivering as I undid the zip of my bag. I am doing my best to cut him dead and solely focus on bringing out my notes and textbooks.

Just then I felt his presence extremely close. All the hairs on my body immediately stands on edge. His hot breath brushes into my ear before the air of his whisper. "You did not even ask for permission. Expect a punishment." I give him a short glance to see him half grinning before I sharpy turn away and take my gaze to the board.

This was highly expected. But could I not have been given today off at least? Rex had only just left and here he is like he has been bidding his time and could hardly wait to torture me again. I could hardly focus on the class. My distraction is made worse by his presence besides me. Still I try my best. And at the same time planning out how to run to that corner in the library as soon as this class is done and over.

Calix on the other hand strangely seems to be paying attention to the class. He is even taking notes. An extremely rare sight that made my brows furrow for a split moment before I decided that it is none of my business. It dumbstruck me still.

I thought he was only here to torture me with his presence? Calix does not take classes. I have never seen him in a class. There was never an instance before this. A newbie who isn’t really aware of things here might mistake him for one of the teachers or even the principal.

"As for your assignments, pick the problems from page 140 to 160." Displeased groans full the classroom when he says that. Squeaky bald is also and notoriously known for his tedious assignments. "Form a team of twos and threes in the way that you are all seated now." What? Did I hear that correctly, or. . .

"Lucky you, you are sitting with a capable senior so you won’t have any problems. I trust him to put you through." He says to me. "Wait—but sir!" I stand up. He faces me with a look of exasperation. "No, you cannot change you partners. You would get demerits if I find that you worked alone or outside your team.

You will all do the assignment and turn it in as a team in the way you all are seated. I said that again so you can all be clear. And also. . ."

"I hope you do not mind failing it because I have decided that would be your punishment." Calix tells me in the ear before leaving the classroom. I watched him go before running to Mr squeaky bald to ask him to overturn it and allow me pair with someone else. Or better yet, do it on my own. But he is not bulging on that pleading request. But I still continue pleading. "Please Mr Kowalski, pair me up with someone else. Otherwise, I would be failing this assignment. He is not someone that I can get through to." They are well aware of the dynamics between me and him. But they just pretend that they don’t. Turning a blind eye and are subconsciously making me out to be the problem.

He sighs, "Look, you do not know what you are saying. Lamont constantly ranks amongst the top students in mathematics and physics. Anything calculations. You should be happy that you are having him as a partner. Others would be. There is no way you would fail.

And you really mustn’t fail because I plan to put this score on your assessment. And also on your midterm exams too. So good luck." He scurries out. I place both my hands on each side of my head. Pacing around the now empty classroom. I can only imagine failure.

I have practically failed it already if this are the terms. And I can’t have that. I really can’t.
