Right before his eyes, an Ork flier tossed a bomb-spear that struck a Thunder heavy fighter, blowing it up.
Unbelievable that, in so little time, Orks had whipped up gear rivaling a heatlance or plasma lance in destructive power…
From his vantage in the observation tower, Eden was overwhelmed—not just by the Orks' bravery but their lightning-fast tech upgrades, too.
He frowned.
According to intel, they had started out with clubs.
After looting the mines, using construction machines, they'd improvised some mechanical weaponry within mere days.
If left unchecked for months, they might even churn out heavy power armor.
Sometimes, Ork gear could surpass that of the Imperium.
If they were having fun, their guns and cannons never jammed or overheated—thanks again to their peculiar brand of "psyker engineering."
It was advanced technology encoded in Ork genes by the ancient Old Ones. They hardly needed R&D—just the right conditions for an instant unlock, plus boundless adaptability.
Bonesmasha Sarakka, after all, had easily built Titan-grade war the Third War for Armageddon that he sparked, even with Space Marine chapters involved, the Imperium lost billions of soldiers.
Luckily, Eden's relief force had arrived promptly. The Orks on Kanda Star were still at a primitive stage.
And Eden had brought special anti-Ork weaponry.

On the Battlefield
Second Defensive Line
Several heavy composite brigades assembled, nearly all loaded with super-heavy gear—heavy exoskeleton armor, Sentinel walkers, super-heavy tanks, self-propelled artillery, and more.
As their formation gathered, a wave of cold steel swept toward the green tide.
Even more dread-inducing, most of these composite brigades were equipped with flame-based chemical weaponry—in other words, flamethrowers.
For the carbon-based Orks, that was devastating.
Super-heavy tanks advanced, unleashing thunderous cannon large-bore flamers spewed jets of flame nearly a kilometer long, incinerating all Orks in front.
Heavy flamethrower squads and Sentinel walkers also belched gouts of flame, scorching everything around them.
A big Ork roast!
Screaming, Orks writhed and ran about, turned into living torches. Their advance stalled, lines pushed back.
"It's working!"
Eden was delighted. Against these fungus-based greenskins, fire was indeed the way to go.
But this was only the opening act.
If he guessed right, his trump card was about to take the field!
On the Ground
Commander of the Storm Army, One-Eyed A'Rey, led hundreds of Space Marines in a direct assault on the Ork core positions.
In squads scattered across the front, the Marines advanced methodically.
Their bolters rounds rained down on the Orks, each shell shredding an unarmored boy to bits.
When the Orks got close, the Marines drew power swords or power spears, dispatching the foes with precise strikes.
But the bigger, armored Ork bosses gave them trouble. Without broader army support, even a Space Marine Chapter could be swallowed by an endless green tide.
Suddenly, a standout figure rushed forth from the Marines' formation—
One-Eyed A'Rey.
He was shirtless, with massive muscles bulging. Over his body he wore a red-and-yellow exoskeleton armor—an adaptation of power armor minus the external ceramite plating and neural links.
Its performance was nearly on par with standard power armor.
Clearly, it had been specially modified to sport a set of hooks and claws.
"Xenos…die!!!"
A'Rey roared, charging headlong into the Ork lines with his power sword, heedless of any flanking attacks.
He tore through the Ork ranks like a man possessed, aiming straight for their core.
In the swirling chaos, he was more savage than the Orks themselves!
Seeing this monstrous, red-eyed figure with a giant mechanical claw, many Orks felt an inexplicable dread.
As if some ancient terror lay coded in their genes.
That terror was real—Commissar Yarrick's legend lived large among Orks, that mortal human they called "Da Big Boss of Humies," who could glare a greenskin to death with his "Evil Eye."
The dread of Yarrick was embedded in their genetic memory.
Though these newly spawned Orks had never heard of Yarrick by name, his shadow had sunk deep into the Ork collective consciousness.
Now faced with a man who looked like a more berserk version of Yarrick, they were bound to be uneasy.
But such fear wasn't enough to break their fighting spirit. In fact, it only stoked their rage.
Because that humie was a strong enemy!
"Waaaagh—!"
A sea of Orks, enough to drown any foe, surged at A'Rey…
