c2435: 2436: Crystal Shell

"Because this bottle contains the crystal shell Shed by Sheath."

Angel had previously guessed whether the crystals in the bottle might be from Sheath’s body, and now the Observer has confirmed it. However, the term used by the Observer is "shed," which is quite interesting.

"Can Sheath shed its shell?"

Observer: "Of course, with a better shell, it will naturally be replaced."

Seeing that Angel still had doubts in his eyes, the Observer thought for a moment and didn’t mind explaining.

As it turns out, the purple-black crystals covering Sheath’s body are actually a kind of "exoskeleton" crystal shell that Sheath constructs externally through digesting certain kinds of extraordinary materials. It can serve both as a medium for energy release within Sheath and provide a certain level of defense.

This exoskeleton is naturally not unchanging; when Sheath digests the extraordinary materials more suited for it, it constructs a new exoskeleton. Generally speaking, the new exoskeleton is more superior than the old shell that was shed.

This can actually be considered a form of evolution.

After listening to the Observer’s explanation, Angel understood.

In simple terms, what the bottle contains is an extraordinary organ. Judging by its design, it likely also carries Soul Arms.

The reason Angel wasn’t initially certain whether the bottle contained Sheath’s organ was because the Sheath larva was clearly alive, so how could an organ have been removed?

It turns out, Sheath can shed its shell, shedding the old exoskeleton and constructing a new crystal shell.

This makes sense now.

Since No. 01 discovered Sheath’s Nest, they surely visited multiple times, stealing the crystal shell from its Nest for use in Soul Arms experiments.

The hidden room’s box had indentations for two bottles, suggesting No. 01 made two crystal shell organs, possibly having used the other one.

Though there’s some regret, obtaining one is already quite good.

Moreover, since Sheath’s crystal shell is an exoskeleton, if its effects are good, it could be grafted.

The organs found by Nis didn’t catch Angel’s attention, he was originally prepared not to graft any, so the surprise was quite welcome.

However, amidst the surprise, Angel also felt some concern.

"Sir, if I want to use this crystal shell, will I be targeted by Phantom Spirit City?"

Observer: "As long as you don’t encounter that Diamond Citizen, everything should be fine. But if you do meet it, and it takes issue, then the consequences are hard to predict."

The Diamond Citizen the Observer mentioned is the Sheath personally taken from Devil’s Sea by Gluz Deward, and is also the bloodline ancestor of the current Sheath larva.

The Observer’s words reassured Angel, as he hadn’t planned to go to Phantom Spirit City anyway. Plus, due to Toby’s presence, he wouldn’t even get near Phantom Spirit City, let alone seek it out.

"Of course, if you establish certain status in the Origin World, even if you meet that Diamond Citizen, it won’t do anything to you. After all, you didn’t harm the Sheath larva; this is merely an insignificant, shed shell." The Observer gave Angel a meaningful look and spoke in an enigmatic tone.

Angel perceived an underlying message from the Observer but couldn’t decipher it, so stopped thinking about it.

With the bottle’s mystery solved, Angel set his mind at ease.

Angel sensed the spatial ripple surrounding him to confirm Sanders hadn’t appeared yet, thus continued waiting. At this moment, his gaze inadvertently fell on Reynaud not far away.

Suddenly, a question popped into his mind; one he had been most curious and puzzled about in recent times.

"Sir, does a Luck Talent exist in this world?" Angel asked.

Observer glanced at Reynaud: "You want to ask about his situation?"

Angel nodded with embarrassment.

"Luck Talent, I’ve never heard of it. But his situation is indeed very peculiar..."

The Observer couldn’t definitively explain the reason behind Reynaud’s "luck," but he had a hypothesis. This hypothesis involved certain knowledge.

This knowledge wasn’t considered secret in the Origin World, but knowledge is knowledge; its essence doesn’t change regardless of how widely spread it is. In the World of Wizards, the most valuable thing is knowledge.

The Observer hesitated to continue because he was pondering whether to tell Angel for free.

While the Observer contemplated, Angel suddenly turned toward a certain spot.

The Observer was also startled and followed Angel’s gaze.

About a hundred meters away from them, spatial ripples appeared one after another, these ripples vibrated in rings, splitting the stable space into crack-like fissures reminiscent of a spider’s web pattern.

"This is... a Plane Corridor!" Observer’s eyes gleamed with doubt.

Angel and Nis exchanged glances, as Nis slightly nodded to him: "It should be your Mentor arriving."

After a pause, Nis couldn’t help but feel a bit envious: "He’s really fast. Before, when I sought Lord Eternal Night, I had to wait for quite a while."

Angel ignored Nis’ idle talk and continued to carefully watch the spatial ripples in the distance. The Plane Corridor’s signs had just appeared; whether it was Sanders was still uncertain. Should it unexpectedly not be Sanders, he needed to stay alert.

While Angel remained vigilant, the Observer had already seen through distorted Law to identify the one arriving through the Plane Corridor.

Having served as the Southern Domain’s Observer for nearly a millennium, he would pay attention to the happenings in the Southern Domain even in his leisure time, so was familiar with its renowned wizards.

He had seen Sanders before, especially after the Eternal Night Country incident, where he secretly observed Sanders for a period.

Thus, he was very certain that the one arriving was Angel’s Mentor, Sanders, who is also referred to as the "Illusion Master."

Upon seeing Sanders’ arrival, the Observer was genuinely a bit dazed.

Previously he thought Nis and Angel had played a comedy before him, as merely dreaming couldn’t contact others. Yet reality surprised him, Sanders has indeed come!

How did they make contact?

Was it really through dreams?
