c1182: The Descent of the Gods (2)

When Kanter reached the end of his sentence, he specifically gave a forced laugh.

Sanders shook his head. He felt that Kanter didn’t need to give a forced laugh because what he said was very likely to be true.

In the endless darkness of the Void fissure, the only source of light was the crimson flames burning on the chains.

Angel, who was bound by the chains and unable to move, wore a bitter smile on his face.

He had been an observer on the periphery all along, facing off against Fafnir; how had it come to this unfortunate end?

“Take the Primeval Flame if you want it. Even say, if you wanted to cut off my ears, I’d feel it’s within the realm of acceptance.” After all, with the abilities of a wizard, there were too many ways to regrow an ear or even transplant a better one.

Why did they insist on taking him away? Wasn’t this an unnecessary complication?

Angel looked ahead at the massive figure of Popota and opened his mouth to say something, but ultimately remained silent. It wasn’t because of the silence rune; its effect had been lost when he was dragged through the Spatial Passage into this unknown destination.

The reason he ended up saying nothing was that he noticed the chaos in Popota’s eyes, which sometimes appeared clear and sometimes raged with madness.

Whatever he said now, Popota probably wouldn’t listen.

As Angel sighed in resignation, he suddenly felt his shoulder lighten. Initially, he thought the chain had relaxed its hold slightly, but before he could feel relieved, he caught a glimpse of a white shadow falling from his shoulder.

When Angel clearly saw what the white shadow was, his eyes instantly bulged.

“Damn it, it’s Toby!”

What was falling from his shoulder was Toby’s Icebound Hex! The Icebound Hex had been on his shoulder all along, largely unscathed even when shaken by an oppressive force.

But after being bound by the chains and pulled into the Spatial Passage, and now being dragged forward by Popota while bound and unable to unleash the Hand of Magic Power, the Icebound Hex finally fell after several jolts.

Angel shouted in horror.

Popota also stopped at this moment and turned back to glance at Angel; he too saw the falling Icebound Hex but did not act, just glaring at Angel with a cold look.

“I can give you the Primeval Flame! You…” Before Angel could finish, Popota interrupted him.

“Shut up, the Primeval Flame originally belongs to my tribe… the Flame of Baiyuan…” Popota began to speak but lapsed into madness again. At that moment, the chains moved slightly, and the cold touch on his skin brought clarity back to Popota’s eyes.

Without saying anything further, Popota turned and walked away.

Meanwhile, the Icebound Hex had already fallen into the dark void below. Angel knew very well that once Toby was lost in the fissures of the Void, he might never be found again.

Angel struggled desperately, but the chains shackled all his movements.

He had never expected that the chains he created would end up being the instrument of his own captivity.

As Angel’s gaze turned to despair, a pair of Flame Hands suddenly reached out from behind him and pinched towards Toby’s Icebound Hex.

As Popota began to fly again, the Icebound Hex was steadied by the Flame Hand.

Upon seeing this, Angel breathed a slight sigh of relief and turned back to look over his shoulder only to see a fireball clinging to the hem of his garment at his back.

Angel was stunned for a moment; the fireball was the juvenile fire demon Greerwu.

When he had been bound by the chains, he had only seen Aoluxiya being sucked into the Spatial Passage, but he hadn’t noticed that Greerwu was also taken along.

Toby’s Icebound Hex was fortuitously caught by Greerwu.

Looking at Greerwu, Angel softly said thanks in not-so-perfect Demon Language.

Greerwu, seemingly unaccustomed to praise, blushed and turned its head away without speaking, but its flames turned from orange-yellow to a reddish hue, indicating its bashfulness.

Angel turned back, intending to check on Toby’s condition.

But when he looked over, his expression showed surprise once again…

He realized that the pristine white Binaqionse dragon scale at the top of the Icebound Hex, that was as white as frosted jade, was, gone!

Looking down, he saw a point of white light flickering in the void below, then falling straight down, and finally vanishing into the profound darkness.

Seeing this, Angel was momentarily stunned.
