Saturday was a rare day off for Yan Feifan.
He hadn’t left the house since waking up, but he wasn’t idle either. He was diligently tutoring Tian Yu with her schoolwork.
The young girl’s middle school entrance exams were less than two weeks away, so it was the final sprint.
For the sake of his own pride, Yan Feifan was doing his utmost to help Xiaoyu score a few extra points.
He knew that with Liu Jin now the director of the Affiliated Hospital, Xiaoyu’s admission to Binhai University Affiliated High School was practically a sure thing, as long as her exam scores weren’t completely abysmal.
Still, getting a good score would be something to be proud of, wouldn’t it?
Since Song Yi and Wang Chuan had both called to say they were coming over for lunch, Yan Feifan used his phone to order a full spread from a well-regarded restaurant near the complex and had it delivered.
At twelve o’clock, the restaurant delivered the food right on time.
Yu Suye, who had worked the night shift in trauma surgery and slept all morning, had just woken up. Song Yi and Wang Chuan also arrived on schedule.
"Feifan, where’s your sister, Ziruo?"
In response to Wang Chuan’s question, Yan Feifan replied casually, "She went out on a date first thing this morning. I don’t expect her back until tonight."
Wang Chuan let out a soft "Oh," then quickly explained, "We’re running low on red wine at home. I was planning to order a few cases to stock up."
"I wanted to ask if Ziruo wanted me to order some for her as well."
Yan Feifan said "Oh," and added, "My sister pretty much drank all of the last few bottles in secret."
"My sister will drink it, my younger uncle will drink it when he comes back, and we’ll need it for when we have guests over for dinner..."
Yan Feifan did a quick calculation and said, "Director, how about this? Go ahead and order... four cases. Twenty-four bottles."
Then, remembering something, he hurried to his sister’s room and came back with a bottle of Moutai Liquor that someone had given him as a gift.
"Director, what do you think this bottle of Moutai is worth?"
Wang Chuan took the Moutai and examined it closely, his eyes lighting up. "Ah, this is a rare treasure! It’s a vintage that’s been aged for over twenty years. It’s worth at least a hundred thousand."
"Feifan, you’re not keeping it for yourself?"
Yan Feifan waved his hand. "I don’t drink."
"If this stays in the house, there’s no telling when my sister or my uncle will secretly drink it."
"It’s better to trade it for some cheaper red wine for them to waste."
Yan Feifan was quite wealthy now. The "cheaper" red wine he mentioned had a market price of over ten thousand a bottle.
And now, buying in bulk from the source through Wang Chuan’s connections, the price per bottle wouldn’t be less than seven or eight thousand.
Wang Chuan caressed the Moutai Liquor bottle, saying happily, "Alright then, I’ll take it."
"I’ll have a connoisseur friend of mine take a look another day to confirm its market value..."
As they spoke, Yan Feifan, Yu Suye, Song Yi, Wang Chuan, and Tian Yu all gathered around the dining table and started to eat.
The group chatted as they ate.
Yan Feifan learned from Song Yi that several investors in Binhai had already signed investment agreements with Extraordinary Medical Technology.
The funds they had committed would be injected into the company in installments over the next two months.
Of the five industry talents recommended by Ouyang Yanran, two had clearly expressed their intention to join after several discussions over the past week.
Furthermore, Yu Chuanbai had returned to Jingcheng on Friday morning.
His trip was twofold: first, to represent the company in signing investment agreements with the Jingcheng investors, and second, to interview the potential candidates recommended by Yu Youlian about the specific terms of joining.
Wang Chuan also told Yan Feifan that the second batch of volunteers for the in-vivo nerve cultivation research project, eight in total, had completed their nerve segmentation surgeries that morning at the plastic surgery center and neurosurgery department, respectively.
The conversation then turned to the camping trip that Yan Feifan had once proposed but had never managed to happen.
Given that the upcoming weekend was a rare two-day break for Yan Feifan, they immediately decided to go camping and have a cookout at Phoenix Tail Mountain next weekend.
Wang Chuan happily announced that he knew of a place with beautiful scenery that very few people knew about.
He would be in charge of providing the food and drinks; Yan Feifan, Song Yi, and the others would just need to bring tents and other camping gear.
The only one who wasn’t too happy was Tian Yu.
She had to prepare for her upcoming middle school entrance exams and would have to miss out on this rare camping trip.
Yan Feifan said hopefully, "Plans never keep up with changes. I hope we can actually make it happen this time."
Song Yi huffed, "If you’re determined enough, no plan is impossible. There will always be one patient after another; it never ends."
"Feifan, you need to find a balance. Learn to make trade-offs."
Yu Suye added, "Besides the unpredictable factor of work suddenly coming up, we also have to consider the weather."
"In July, heavy rain and typhoons can show up without any warning."
Song Yi declared, "We’ve made a promise! Even if it rains knives, nothing’s stopping us..."
For the nurse Ye Lin, this Saturday was also a rare day off.
She was sleeping soundly at home when she was jolted awake by violent knocking on her door.
Still groggy with sleep, Ye Lin glanced at the digital clock on her nightstand and saw that it was already 12:40 in the afternoon.
