c416: 415: Falling Object (2)

She had slept for eleven hours.

Even after sleeping for so long, Ye Lin still didn’t want to get up. But the sound, which was practically someone pounding on the door, was starting to make her angry.

"Dad, Mom..."

She called out, but there was no reply.

’Maybe Mom and Dad went out early,’ Ye Lin thought.

The pounding on the door grew louder and louder.

Ye Lin felt utterly helpless.

A fan of sleeping in the nude, she reluctantly got out of bed, slipped on a light little nightgown, shuffled into her slippers, and left her bedroom.

"Coming, coming! You’re going to break the door down!"

Ye Lin shouted angrily as she hurried to the door and opened it.

Outside stood three anxious-looking middle-aged men, one of whom was wearing a security guard’s uniform.

All three of them looked vaguely familiar; she guessed they were probably residents of her complex.

Ye Lin subconsciously pressed a hand to her chest to prevent her nightgown from slipping and revealing anything, watching the three men before her warily.

Just then, the middle-aged man in the security uniform asked urgently, "Are you Ye Lin? Do you work at the Affiliated Hospital’s plastic surgery center?"

Ye Lin nodded.

The security guard said hurriedly, "Ye Lin, here’s what happened."

"This morning, there was an incident with something thrown from a high-rise in the complex. Someone threw a kitchen knife down from their apartment and it hit a girl."

"Half of the girl’s face..."

The security guard gestured on his own face. "From her nose down to her chin, half her face was sliced right off."

"One of her fingers was severed, too."

"It’s horrific."

"The nearby hospitals can’t handle it at all. The girl is being transferred to the Affiliated Hospital right now."

"Ye Lin, we heard you work for a very impressive surgeon at the Affiliated Hospital."

"Do you think... could you possibly..."

Hearing this, Ye Lin already understood what they wanted.

She quickly explained, "Mr. Yan is on his day off too. He’s not at the hospital."

"But I can call and ask him..."
