c3453: Is The Gap That Large? (2)

There was only one possible path to victory, and that was to use his sequence technique to cause the Third Boss to suffer a backlash from his own attacks. There was no other possibility.

Lu Yin curled his fingers and aimed his hand at Sage Qian. Then, a finger lightly flicked. Ripples spread through the void, and Sage Qian saw a scene from the past. It was from when he had sparred with Yu Shan. However, Yu Shan had not been nearly as casual against Sage Qian as Lu Yin. This Third Boss was clearly much stronger than Yu Shan.

Unshakable. This was the true meaning of that word.

"Old friends, help me!" Sage Qian screamed.

No one responded.

Old Tao sighed. "Sage Qian must be trying his best to buy some time. He’s just hoping to endure a few more attacks."

The Misery Gate’s Si Kong shook his head while muttering to himself, "Sage Qian cultivates the twentieth-ranked sequence technique: Forbidden Reversal. That law of the universe can make an opponent’s attacks backfire against themselves. Some people may experience that backlash after their fifth attack, while others might suffer it after only the third attack. Sage Qian has spent years diligently cultivating his sequence technique while sitting beneath the White Willow. His sequence particles should have increased significantly. It’s possible that he can make an opponent equal to him suffer backlash after just two strikes, or possibly even just one.

"However, this Third Boss is extremely powerful. Sage Qian won’t be able to make him suffer any sort of backlash within three or even five attacks. Will he need eight? Nine? Maybe even ten attacks?"

"He hopes to be able to drag things out and take a few more attacks with the help of his old friends so that his Forbidden Reversal can be used. Unfortunately, no one will help him. Even if this Third Boss does suffer a backlash, that might not be enough to cause him to lose. If he doesn’t lose, any who attack him will be in trouble.

"No one is willing to go against the Grandverse Manor right now, not unless the High Seraph himself explicitly announces an attack and leads the entire Spirit Nidus to surround and besiege them. Without that, no one will be willing to step forward. Sage Qian is finished."

Bang!

Something pierced Sage Qian’s shoulder, causing his blood to spray into space. After that, his arms and legs were also pierced by Lu Yin’s attacks. The sage would not die, but he was severely injured.

The man stared at Lu Yin, silently counting while enduring multiple injuries across his body. Ten attacks. His eyes flared, and his sequence particles surged crazily, enveloping Lu Yin. This was the sage’s only chance.

Lu Yin waved his hand, taking away the last bit of the Skyriver. It dropped into his inner universe, falling among the stars. He looked at the sequence particles that had enveloped him and then simply repelled them.

Sage Qian's eyes bulged, and he stared intently as the sequence particles were driven back. Even so, the sage smiled.

Had he considered the possibility that the laws of the universe might not be able to touch the Third Boss? Of course, he had thought of that. The Third Boss had already defeated Palace Master Yao, who was an Ortuser. It was fully within Sage Qian’s expectations for Lu Yin to be able to repel sequence particles. However, did that mean that he had actually avoided the law of the universe? Forbidden Reversal had not been used when the sequence particles surged, but rather as soon as Lu Yin had thrown his first attack.

Backlash. As long as the Third Boss suffered a backlash from his attacks, there would be room for hope. The sequence particles had only appeared to guide the backlash, and it did not matter if the law of the universe was avoided or not, as it had already been set.

Backlash! Come on!

Sage Qian stared at Lu Yin, his breath growing increasingly ragged.

However, even after he waited for some time, there was still no reaction.

Lu Yin observed the stars and landmass in his inner universe. The Skyriver was a new addition, and it greatly improved the scenery. It also showed Lu Yin that his inner universe seemed to need more features; rivers, mountains, landmasses, as well as other things.

Hmm, this journey has just gained a new purpose.

Huh? The Skyriver also contained a tree, a white willow. Has this tree been growing within the Skyriver?

Lu Yin looked over at Sage Qian, who was clearly waiting for something.

Lu Yin simply imprisoned the man within his Champions' Stage Purgatory, strengthening his Karmic Dao.

Even as Sage Qian was being imprisoned, he still could not understand why the Third Boss had never suffered any backlash from his attacks. He had attacked ten times, so why was there no backlash? Was the gap between them really that large?

With the Skyriver gone, a vast chasm appeared beneath Lu Yin, and dazed eyes stared up at him.

The people who had been shadowing Lu Yin’s journey had just been shown the vast gap between him and Sage Qian. There was no way to bridge such a difference. The Vast Qian Domain had been easily dealt with.

The Little Princess was completely bewildered, though she did understand one thing: the Third Boss had come to cause trouble for the Vast Qian Domain. But what could she do?

The old woman held the young woman’s hand, afraid that the Little Princess might do something impulsive.

Lu Yin returned to the sedan and lounged in his seat again. "Xu Ren, I've already dealt with your grievance for you. There’s no need to thank me."

Xu Ren finally reacted. "Young Master, what of Sage Qian?"

Xu Ren was too weak to even see the Skyriver from where he stood.

Lu Yin chuckled. "What do you think?"

Xu Ren only grew more confused, and he had no idea how to answer such a question.

Suddenly, Lu Yin waved a hand, and Xu Ren vanished.

Not a single person watching had the slightest clue of what had happened to the young man.
