Synopsis

The practice of fortune-telling originated during the Pre-Qin period, developed during the Sui and Tang dynasties, and became widespread during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Representative figures from different periods, such as Zhang Liang from the Han Dynasty, Zhuge Liang from the Three Kingdoms, and Liu Bowen from the Ming Dynasty, all engaged in palmistry, physiognomy, and the study of the Eight Characters (Ba Zi).
