Privacy Policy

How ReChapters collects, uses, and protects your information.

Last updated: May 14, 2026

1. Information We Collect

OAuth identifiers returned by providers (email, display name, avatar URL), reading preferences (theme, font size, paging mode), bookshelf entries, reading progress, and search history.

2. How We Use Information

To authenticate you, sync your bookshelf and preferences across devices, personalize recommendations, and improve overall service quality.

3. Local Storage & Cookies

We use localStorage to cache reading preferences, footprints, and a non-sensitive user snapshot. Authentication cookies are HTTP-only and encrypted via Auth.js.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. Data may be disclosed only when required by law, to enforce these terms, or to protect users' rights and safety.

5. Data Retention

Data is retained while your account is active. Soft-deleted records are periodically purged in accordance with our internal retention policy.

6. Your Rights

You may request export or deletion of your account data through the in-app reporting channel. Some metadata may persist for legal or anti-abuse reasons.

7. Security

We use industry-standard practices such as HTTPS, JWT-based stateless sessions, and tokenized OAuth flows. No method is 100% secure; we work continuously to harden the platform.

8. Children's Privacy

The service is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent local age threshold). We do not knowingly collect data from such users.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may revise this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app or sent to your registered email address.

10. Contact

Privacy-related questions can be sent through the reporting channel in the app.
