After a moment of thought, Renee Jennings said, "Go ahead."
Not long after she hung up, her phone rang again.
Renee Jennings glanced at the caller ID. It was an unknown number.
She answered, her voice calm. "Hello?"
"Renee, it’s me." Aria Sinclair’s gentle voice came from the receiver.
"Ms. Sinclair." Renee Jennings looked up at the night sky, her tone placid. "Is there something you need?"
"Actually, yes." Aria Sinclair pursed her lips, speaking hesitantly. "Are you free tomorrow? I’m planning to go house-hunting, and I was thinking... of picking one out for you."
Hearing this, Renee Jennings let out a soft laugh. "Thank you for the kind offer, but I don’t need it."
"Renee, are you blaming me?" Aria Sinclair’s voice was full of guilt, and her breathing became heavier. "I’m the one who wronged you."
’She must have lost her mind back then, delaying the reunion with her biological daughter for so long. It wasn’t until the moment she lost her that she knew to cherish her.’
"I don’t blame you." Renee Jennings suddenly realized that her mindset had become very peaceful when facing the Morgan family. To her, Aria Sinclair was just a stranger now. "And you don’t need to apologize to me."
"It wasn’t your fault the children were switched."
"It also wasn’t your fault that you didn’t want to acknowledge your real child."
Renee Jennings gave a tight-lipped smile. "Because I feel the same way. I don’t want a reunion either."
"Renee..." Aria Sinclair’s voice trembled. "Are you very disappointed in me?"
"Of course not." Renee Jennings’s tone softened slightly. "How can there be disappointment when there were never any expectations?"
"I’m sorry, I’m so, so sorry..." On the other end of the line, Aria Sinclair was sobbing uncontrollably.
Listening to her cries, Renee Jennings felt nothing in particular.
After listening for a moment, she finally asked, "Are you done crying? I have something to do in a bit."
Aria Sinclair quickly stopped, her voice thick with nasality as she stammered through her sobs, "I’m sorry, I’ll hang up right now. Goodbye."
"Wait."
"Yes, Renee? Go on."
"Have you settled the score with Zoe Morgan yet?"
"Not yet." Aria Sinclair’s voice had become hoarse. "I’m planning to tomorrow."
"When the time comes, can my friends and I come watch?" Renee Jennings asked bluntly.
’Michelle Fuller would definitely love this.’
How could Aria Sinclair possibly refuse her? At this point, even if Renee Jennings were asking for her life, she would agree.
"Of course you can. I’ll let you know tomorrow after I’ve confirmed the time and place."
Renee Jennings smiled, satisfied. "Alright, thanks."
After hanging up, she turned and went into the villa.
Diana Jennings, Rhea Dempsey, and Dalton Jenson were sitting cross-legged on the carpet, while Zane and Jasmine stood. All five of them were battling with a craft project for the next day.
Renee Jennings blinked and decided to join them.
Glenn Zane couldn’t help, so she went to the kitchen to cut up a plate of fruit.
Munching on fruit, Renee Jennings said, "By the way, Sis, Faye asked me to invite you to hang out."
"When?" Diana Jennings asked.
"In half an hour." Renee Jennings looked at Rhea Dempsey and Dalton Jenson, grinning. "I’m leaving Zane and Jasmine to you two old-timers."
